Bottle PKGD ON 11.02.2016. Nose bread crusts and Munich-y deep malt, dark earth and some roast, mild soy, restrained but ever-present fruit. Touch of sugar, dark, rich. Pour cola-brown but darkening in the glass, still ruby when held under light, head is creamy light tan. Taste sweet and strongly spicy, strong alcohol, sugary, warm, rich earth, big fat rich malt, lots of bread crusts, toasted/scorched flits, not terribly grainy but there’s some in best Continental tradition. Fruit is there (mostly fig) but too restrained; there’s a classiness about it an good integration, but a little pop would do wonders. Full body but not overly heavy or fat, mild crispness is appropriate, some chocolate, some dough, some mild tobacco. Subtle bright citrus, hops indeed still there but light and deft, brown sugar/molasses. Bread crusts and a touch of butter in the long aftertaste. Alcohol needs to mellow but the complexity is already quite good, though the caramel/malt is slightly muddy. A lot of fun with this one. 12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Ann Arbor Eisenhower, 3/16/16. Clear dark reddish brown, medium sized creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, cherries, citrus. The taste is lemon, cherries, toffee, molasses. Full bodied, low carbonation. Nice.

bottle @ Belmont Party Supply / Dayton OH --- Aroma of malt. Opaque brown / black color, beige head that drops to a cover, waves of lace. Taste is full-bodied lightly roasted malt that grows into medium fizz and noticeable unbiased hops and alcohol warmth. Strong, a little overwhelming, which fits the power, but not the lack of complexity here. I’m having this with dinner, but it would probably be better as a stand-alone.

pours a dark burguny with minimal head an dno lacing. Aroma of fig, raisin, toffee and heavy malt. flavor is much the same. Slightly metallic. Average.

Bot. Thick spreading aroma of heavy ale. Initially, I think I’m hitting impy stout but then there is this finer attitude about it. Malty fer sure and then there is a very weak sensation of milk stout. Quite complex and somewhat rude throughout. Strong warming sensations all round. Better not drink 2 of these, I think I’m getting a little dizzy. Obnoxious and rude finish. Over the top. Too much for my girlie taste buds. Not impressed. 12 oz. bottle from DrSilverworm - thanks, Chris! Pours a mahogany color, not quite opaque, with a small khaki ring that settles into a thin ring. Notes of toasted and chocolate malts, tobacco, earth, dark dried fruits, and a hint of mellow roast. Medium-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smooth, earthy, malty mouthfeel. Best I’ve had from them.
