Cask, 1/2 pint, hand-pulled, State Bar, Glasgow, floral, orange aroma, golden amber with a thin cream head and very good lacing, orange sorbet with a hint of ginger, soft carbonation. Hippoman (646) - Durham, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2016
Cask at The Bishop Langley, Durham, £3.10/pint.
Pours cloudy mid-amber with a thin, white head. There’s tropical fruit and piney, resinous notes in an aroma that screams out "IPA". The taste is full of clean, juicy, fruity mango and orange flavours and has a refreshingly dry finish. It’s hugely drinkable, even at 6.7% and is a very-well executed east-coast style IPA. Very hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is semi dry and crisp. Mild caramel in the fluffy malts. Floral Motueka. Trace of citrus. Airy dry finish. Been a long time since I’ve had a really good Motueka beer and this is not it. It’s fine but like many recent Arbor beers it doesn’t feel clean. Decent nontheless.
Bottle. Slightly cloudy yellow appearance.Hoppy with citrus in the background. Powerful and full flavoured. An excellent beer from an excellent brewer.
