COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A surprisingly easy-drinking dark ale with a medium body, malty palate and a smooth dry finish. Our alt is brewed in the tradition of the German "sticke" or "secret" alt which was a fuller, darker, and higher alcohol alt served unadvertised by German brewpubs at regular ale prices as a reward to regular customers who knew to ask for it.

Very inviting looking -- deep brown / black, tan head, clear. Medium carbonation and it starts like a smooth porter. The finish is light / slick, which I don’t care for, but full malt taste is good.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of nutty sweet malt and light fruits. Flavor is still nutty with sweet fruits and a bready malt and bitter finish. Pretty easy drinking and tasty. 7/4/7/4/14 [3.6/5]

Well having had several alts in dusseldorf it isnt exactly the same but I liked it . Lots of nuts and some butter, cloudy and more like a thin version of their bitter

illinismitty (2271) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 23, 2010
Draft at brewpub. Pours a deep mahogany with a light beige head. Bready area,. Flavor of dark bread and german malts countered by a moderate bitterness of European hops. Dry finish is not as clean as more notable versions of the style.

ansermadide (1526) - Kyle, Texas, USA - JAN 3, 2010
Pours a solid black color with a Brown tint and a healthy brown head that fades to leave a light layer of bubbles on the surface. Spotty, bubbly lacing. Aroma of lightly roasted malt and light hops. Flavor that of a subdued bitter dry stout. Light body and just a little bitter on the finish. A little too light for the looks, but pleasantly light.

beernbourbon (1592) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - DEC 5, 2009
Bottle. Pour is clear dark brown with a light off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt, light coffee, faint chocolate, and a mild pine hop component. Flavor is roasty and crisp. It’s a pretty neat flavor and leaves a nice lingering roasted malt flavor with a faint hop character.

17thfloor (2443) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 29, 2009
12oz bottle. Pours a creamy dark chocolate color with a huge airy bubbly light tan head. Aroma of chocolate chip cookie dough, bright berries, sourish, sharp and very odd, surely infected. Flavor follows, dark chocolate cookie dough for sure and old coffee, very cooke like, hint of tart berries, so weird. Massive carbonation, harsh. Another brewery who can’t bottle.

deyholla (11597) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 24, 2009
On tap. Poured a dark brown with a thick light brown head. Aroma had notes of caramel, cereal and dark breads. Flavor was full of dark sweet notes, such as caramel and molasses.
