Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruit, slight toasted bread note. Taste was a mix of bread, caramel, toast, hints of spice into a bit of fruit, finishing fairly dry, slightly bitter. Ferris (15003) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 11, 2014
Draft - Roast malts and some dark raisin with a bit of syrup. Deep brown with a nice brown head. Light syrupy roast with some burnt toast. Malty and nice. Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Bottle. Deep brown with the dark tan head. Sweet malt and some caramel aromas. Lots of dark malts, coffee, and pretty bitter. crossovert (12631) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 27, 2013
Definitely a dark altbier. Big tan head that sticks frever. Smell is malty and caramally with a big hit of metal. Flavor is similiar, a nice smack of metal coats the beer. It works a lot more in the smell than the flavor. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - OCT 4, 2013
Tap: deep brown with dark ruby and mahogany tints hidden throughout. The light-tan head settles as a film about three millimeters thick and lasts for quite a while down the glass. Light aroma; both sweet and roasty malts with heavy chocolate overtones. Crisp yeast aromas on the back-end with some musk, dry hops mingling within. Though the aroma didn’t give it away, the flavor has plenty of dry roasted coffee beans in it; dry, roasty, light cocoa powder with some backside impending sweetness that comes and goes quickly. Almost raisin-like and even borderline tart for a split second. Bitter-roasted, nearly acrid aftertaste with burnt coffee beans, dark malt, and light cocoa. Dry finish, a little too thin of a mouth feel for my liking. Pretty decent, but not a regular go-to.

bottle. Deep brown with small head. Very malty, but not much flavor otherwise. Seems like a thin porter or stout. jsquire (4420) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JUN 10, 2013
Dark beer with brown highlights when held against the light. Creamy brown head. Big malty nose with strong fruit notes. Very carbonated. Caramel sweetness with some toffee and molasses, a hint of smoke and a long burnt toast finish. Some grain astringency. Okay beer... TheBear11D (365) - Michigan, USA - MAY 27, 2013
The 22 German Alt pours black with very little tan brown head that leaves little lacing. The aroma leads me to believe that it's high in alcohol and is fairly malty. The flavor is smooth and malty. Vanilla, caramel and wood are he flavors I pick up in the flavor. Overall this is a pretty decent beer.

This is listed as a "winter seasonal." I picked mine up in May. Not sure about degradation over time of Alt Bier’s. Not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole today. Pours dark. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Of late, I have become a bigger fan of alt biers as a way to go low on the ABV while maintaining flavor. I would like to get the chance to try this beer closer to its bottling date. Porterguy41 (19) - - FEB 7, 2013
Pours a dark rich color, suttle aroma, a little thin for my taste, not at all what
i expected but still a good brew.
