Tap at HDG Daze of the Devil. Pale golden colour with a thick white head. Aroma is quite nice and spicy. Apricot and light orange peel. A bit of clove and light banana with a soft sweetness, light honeyish character but the beer is generally quite dry and drinkable. On draft; poured a gold color. Aroma of banana, yeast and spices. Flavor was pretty dry to me. Pretty ordinary for the style. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JAN 19, 2008
pours golden, pilsner-like..aroma of spice, clove, and banana..flavor is of banana bread. honey, and heavy (almost cloyingly heavy) sugar...touches of rubber cement as well..sticky, unpleasant palate.. leeburg (230) - Juneau, Alaska, USA - JAN 14, 2008
10 oz. tulip in the taproom. Visually, resembled a lager. Always hard for me to find aromas in the bars. Hopefully the smoking ban goes into effect soon. It would be a stretch to say some aging would tame the alcohol and bring out the flavors, but I honestly don’t think there was enough going on to save it. I would only choose it again if my options were limited or I wanted a fast buzz. This brewer needs to work in some complexity if he is to save the Phat Abbots. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 4, 2008
Clear gold. Sweet banana, lemon and kool-aid orange smell (yes, kool-aid). Flavor is sweet overall with a heavy candy sugar presence and some lighter lemon/banana yeast notes. Average.

On tap at the brewpub. Old lemons and faint spice aroma. Golden glow in clarity topped with white lace. Flavor is pure sugar syrup, oranges and phenols. A bit of mess. Way too much malt presence. Carbonation is weighed down. Alcohol snares the sinuses. Rubbery. Yeast have gotten too bold. Unpleasant. AlabastorJones (814) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 13, 2007
orange body with no head, sweet cream aromatic yeast stank, soooo sweet, bitters, alc buzz in the background, warming and lingering, sweet apple sugar... sort of like a bowl of cheerios with a ton of sugar on top of it. dsm (109) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 10, 2007
sample at brewpub. Very spicy and strong. The alcohol should be better masked. My girlfriend says it is like drinking sugary scotch, and I agree. Goblincat (399) - Petersburg, Michigan, USA - DEC 1, 2007
12oz - The aroma is a blend of candy, malt, and spice. The taste seems to be a blend of candy sugar and some spices, with a bit of pepper and alcohol. Zinister (1423) - Houston, Texas, USA - NOV 29, 2007
Bottle from hoppymeal. Pours a dirty gold with absolutely no visable carbonation...had me worried. Solid Belgian yeast, fruit and spiced nose. Mouthfeel is a bit viscious, but has a nice covering of the palate. Very limited carbonation, which hurts its rating. The taste is a bit cloying with sweetness...although I do get some apricots, bananas and lemons in there. It’s almost like they forgot to ferment the wort...or if they did they had lousy attenuation.
