Wow, the barnyard on the nose almost bowls you over, which is awesome if you’re into that like I am. The puckery sourness is also almost over-the-top. This really blurs the line between a super-bretty wine and beer. Only for true sour lovers!
Pour on tap at HopCat, hazy golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of sour fruit, grass, bread, slight tart lemony notes into a bit of grain, slight oak. Bottle (2013) with thanks to northernbrews! Pours crystal clear amber with a small off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving some lacing. Aroma is tart oaky lemon. Flavor is medium tart, fruity, lemon, oak, a bit of white grape, touch of musty funk. Medium body, low carbonation. Bottle: Slightly hazy, burnt copper body with not much "head" at all, just a gray tinted, lasting collar. Aroma of moderate vinegar, lemon, boozy cherry skins, faint earthy must, & a strong, yogurt-like lactobacillus sourness present. Taste is not quite as sour as the aroma would have you believe, but it’s still a bit tart. Lacto yeast, lemon, light vinegar acidity, sharp cherry skins, & a hint of dry, musky oak in the finish. A little bit of warmth comes through, almost in the form of booze, but it’s still mostly tame. Creamy mouth feel, but this could use more carbonation. A nice sour ale from Arbor, but Framboozled is better.

Bottle purchased a couple of summers ago. Clear amber in color with a thin off-white head. Aroma of malt, oak and some fruit sweetness with some sour esters. 750 mL bottle. 2012 vintage. Part of a tasting 11/24/2013 at Fraser’s Pub in Ann Arbor. The pour is a lightly brownish golden color. There is a decent head and a nice lace. The aroma is very sour, with hints of fruit. There is a seemingly dominant cherry, and it is definitely tart. the flavor is surprisingly good. It’s a little of a sweet cherry before fading right into a big sourness. 750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2013 vintage. Pours lightly hazy light orange amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clingsaround the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour apple, cherry, lemon, pear, grape, clove, pepper, hay, straw, vinegar, oak, leather, musty funk, white wine, herbal, light honey, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of oak, malt, and wild yeast esters; with good strength. Taste of sour apple, cherry, lemon, pear, grape, hay, straw, vinegar, clove, oak, leather, musty funk, white wine, herbal, light honey, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy/fruity acidity on the finish; with lingering notes of sour apple, cherry, grape, pear, lemon, hay, straw, vinegar, oak, clove, pepper, leather, funk, white wine, light honey, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of oak, wild yeast, and malt flavors; with a great acidity/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately acidic mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent sour blonde ale style. All around great complexity and balance of oak and wild yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on with moderate acidity.
