Massive in every way, B-Craft delivers a complex bundle of flavors with citrus-hop aroma. Moving beyond the massive hop aroma, rich roasted malt flavors of coffee and chocolate move forward only to be checked by an impressive hop bitterness. Texture and flavor dance together so seamlessly that you may need to remind yourself that, while it drinks like a session, it delivers like an assassin.

big beer indeed beautiful full spectrum hop aroma with malt and fermented tobacco that turns to alcohol. hops, soupy and brothy malt initially some rum turning to rubbing alcohol in some butter. a tiny bit of smoke. the beer is busy, the beer is demonstrative and the beer is exceptional!

Aroma is dark malts, mint and a hint of hops. The flavor is citrus, mildly nutty malts, a hint of chocolate and a dry and bitter finish. A bit subdued at first but cleaned up pretty good.

Pint glass at the Green Door in Chicago. This beer is a grab bag of everything. It has a hop-citrus profile, malty backbone, creamy foam crown, pitch black appearance, and a smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel. It’s a wildcard beer that’s simultaneously all things and nothing specific. Fun stuff but probably a bit tiresome beyond a pint.

Draft. Creamy tan head, cola-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, roast, some bittersweet chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, roast, some bittersweet chocolate, pine/grapefruit. Medium body, light stickiness.

Bottle. Pours dark, almost black with very little head. Good hops and malt flavor with a distinct roast taste. Not overly hoppy or as bitter as I was expecting but quite tasty. Smooth and drinkable, especially considering the 8.5% abv. Would drink this regularly if it was available locally.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/23/12

Aroma: The nose is a bit hoppy, a little citrus, and some roasted malts
Appearance: It pours a black color without much head and with some light, drippy lace
Flavor: The taste isn’t overly sweet or overly bitter, but it leans hoppy, and has a bitter end palate
Palate: The body is light-medium, feels more watery then I expected, with a little slickness, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This was a pretty solid Black IPA. It isn’t a top of style offering, but I thought it worked pretty well. It is definitely drinkable, and I think that this beer is what it is trying to be.

Bottle. Piney citrus hops and chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown with a small tan head, moderate lacing. Smooth roasty chocolate malt, piney hops, and cola flavor with a lemony finish. Medium crisp body, lively carbonation. Excellent, well-balanced.

Bottle. Black pour with some brown head. Some pine and citrus GOP aromas crossed with malt and roasted properties. Pine like hops and roasted flavors with a touch of licorice.

12oz bottle. Good thin tan head, leaving good dots of lace. Black but not opaque color. Nice lighter crisp carbonation. Dry texture. Good roastiness, chocolate malts and a hint of coffee complement the herbal spicy floral hops nicely. Nice bitter, light sweet taste. Another tasty Black IPA - I love this style, and this example delivers.

Pours black with brown-ruby edges and a slight off-white cap that leaves some delicate lacing. Yeasty floaties are present, nice :) Nose involves some light coffee, alcohol vapors, some cocoa, licorice, caramel, maybe a touch of smokiness, and a blast of resinous piney hops. Taste is sharply bitter but quite sweet also. Palate is fuller, smooth, with a big bitterness on the tongue throughout leading to a lengthy finish. Really nice beer, maybe not as clean and hop forward as some black IPAs, but it works here with all the complexity and largeness of the body. A winner for me.
