Overall I had high hopes for this one, especially after smelling it, but the taste just has too much alcohol up front at the moment. It gets considerably better as it warms up, but it is very strong. It’s a little over carbonated but the nose is great. I’d rank this slightly behind the BA stout, and way behind the BA porter, though I could see this being much better with more time on it. Will hold onto my other bottle for a while, at least a year.

The BA Cereal Killer pours mahogany in color with a weak bubbly khaki head that hugs the ring of my glass. The aroma is of sweet bourbon, lite oak, carmel malts, and a touch of vanilla. As for taste I picked up on sweet carmel malts, sweet bourbon, booze, brown sugar, a tad bit of spice, vanilla, and a toffee like flavor. The sweetness masked the booze and bitterness pretty well. I find that the finish is the most enjoyable part in this beverage. In the end all that sweetness is hit but not taken over by the spices, bitterness, and the booze. This beverage reminds me of a good girl who can be a little freaky. Overall this worth a try and somewhat of a memorable experience. stumpyiliz (220) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 27, 2013
Dark root beer color with little to no head. Nose of caramel vanilla, banana and bourbon. Light body, with heavy booze dry flavor. Bourbon notes and oak really come through on the finish. alexsdad06 (10817) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUL 16, 2013
12 oz bottle shared with drsordr. Pours a clear cola brown with a small off white head. The aroma is bourbon, bourbon and more bourbon with some vanilla and caramel that sneak in. The flavor has more boozy bourbon, caramel, vanilla and toffee. Some spicy hops try to crash the party. I will seehow this ages bbecause it is too hot for me right now. drowland (9077) - Georgia, USA - JUL 16, 2013
6/29/13. 22oz bottle shared by cheesemoose during the epic BA barleywine tasting. Deep mahogany pour with a small khaki head. Rich BA aroma shows vanilla, wood, caramel, and toffee with a nice malty base with more caramel and dark fruits. Lightly sweet flavor with vanilla, toffee, oak, caramel, molasses, and dark fruits. Given the usual price for this stuff, it’s quite good!

Bottle. What a brew. Pours a deep brown toward purple with a thin khaki ring of head that left a thick wall of lace on the glass. Very complex nose involving sappy walnut tree, rich ruby port, molasses and assorted dark fruits, some grape wine-like character, cherry pipe tobacco, barbecue and soy, and some alcohol vapors. Very sweet in flavor but also pretty bitter, though probably not enough to balance. Full bodied, sticky, with a long warm fruity wine-like finish. Really awesome brew, happy to try. Probably should have shared, though, as this rocked me to no surprise. Daytonbeer (729) - Ohio, USA - JUL 5, 2013
Pours mahogany in color with very little head and no lacing or visible carbonation. Aroma of vanilla, cough syrup, bourbon, coke, and dark fruits. Taste is the same with additional Carmel and brown sugar. Wow. This is an outstanding and complex beer. bluejacket74 (1995) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - JUN 28, 2013
12 ounce wax capped bottle, 12/18/12 stamped on the bottle. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours a dark reddish/mahogany brown color with about a quarter inch tan head that didn’t stay around for too long. There’s also a small amount of lacing. The aroma is rich and malty, the brew smells like bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, oak, and a bit of booze. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some molasses and raisins. There’s also a surprising amount of bitterness in this brew, although the sweet malty flavors are stronger. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s slick and easy enough to drink for a 12% ABV brew. Moderate carbonation. I thought this was a good brew, hopefully I can pick up another bottle in the future. $7.99 a bottle. walleye (1102) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUN 24, 2013
