Draft to snifter at Arcadia. Looks good; a mostly opaque brownish-black with beige lacing. Smells good too; sweet and boozy. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. Good stuff, and will definitely improve with age. mmmkay (51) - - FEB 15, 2013
Very strong ale. Drink it from a snifter. Alcohol though out this one. Bourbon seems to increase the sharpness. Luckily it doesn't overpower it so you don't feel like your drinking a shot of bourbon.

Bottle shared with some heads.Pours burgandy red with light head and not much lacing. Aromas of plum, dark fruit, booze, toffee, and barrel. Flavor is sweet malts, sugary fruit, black cherry. Finishes smooth with a little burn in the chest. Tasty. drowland (8938) - Georgia, USA - JUL 16, 2013
6/29/13. 22oz bottle shared by cheesemoose during the epic BA barleywine tasting. Deep mahogany pour with a small khaki head. Rich BA aroma shows vanilla, wood, caramel, and toffee with a nice malty base with more caramel and dark fruits. Lightly sweet flavor with vanilla, toffee, oak, caramel, molasses, and dark fruits. Given the usual price for this stuff, it’s quite good! AndyReynolds (1085) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 19, 2014
Bottle shared with Chudwick the C.H.U.D. of the New York sewers. Whiskey shakes at the first sniff. I get some vanilla, brown sugar, and bourbon. My poor dog is having pushups done by his ass by a toddler. Remembering a time before children and friends‘ children and this thing called freedom that I never cherished enough, but should have. Do you remember a time? Like a child molester use to sing about.

Sample at Ale Alpharetta, brought by Drew. Cloudy, reddish brown, with a thin head. Big nose of vanilla and bourbon, butterscotch, pine, caramel, and oats. Very sweet, with a nice touch of bitterness. Heavy body, harsh, sticky, and thick. Nice, heavy, and incredibly flavorful beer. tmoreau (4591) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 26, 2016
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served showing a deepest mahogany, almost black hue, with a presentable layer of brownish, reddish, tan head foam that reduced expeditiously to a more lasting ring & film, and left spots & strands of lacing on the glass. The nose was chocolate, dark fruit as prune, sweetness, caramel, treacle, and barrel induced vanilla. Full bodied, with low carbonation, the taste started dry, yet sweet, with similar notes as the aroma, plus an added, dark fruit note as concord grape, with smooth, lingering booze and warmth. Slowly savored and wasn’t disappointed. jeremytoni (3082) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - FEB 8, 2013
