Bottle. Ruddy orange-brown body, thin off-white head. Hot nose with notes of bourbon, oak, raisin, and caramel; alcohol prevalent. Oaky, soft body with layers of caramel, toast, and bread, finishing with warming alcohol notes. Yum. jbrana (640) - NASHVILLE, Tennessee, USA - SEP 24, 2013
Nice and sweet and very boozy. Flavors of raisins, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, oak, and burnt sugar. Very good if in the mood for something sweet.

Tap at brewery. Pitch. Nice little bit of lingering head. Nose is straight up bourbon barrel. Tastes of decadent fudge, dark chocolate, mild raisin. I normally donít like barley wines, but this... this is something. Dogbrick (12936) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 21, 2017
Sample from 2011 bottle during Blarney Wine Festival 2017 on 03/18/2017. The beer is a cloudy reddish-brown color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, malt and dark fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, figs, caramel malt and yeast. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall. walleye (1099) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Bottle. poured brown with beige head that didnít last left a small amount of lacing. aroma middle of the road bourbon, dark fruits, caramel, vanilla. 1st taste was not impressed, had to let it warm to get some flavors out of it the bourbon still tasted on the cheap side

Aroma is fig, raisin and cocoa. Black pour with thin ring of white head. Prune juice flavor. Boozy. Whiskey and Carmel notes. Massive flavor. Makes ya shake your head. Had this as part of a draft flight at Jerrys in Andersonville. Mark_Eck (1921) - - JUN 15, 2016

12 oz bottle. Deep brown with sparse froth that rises with a swirl. Nose is bourbon and honey with a touch of grass. Meadlike in its sweetness. Medium body with a tang, lightly sticky. Taste is apple, caramel, grass, banana and bourbon. Comes off a little washed out; sneaky alcohol. stumpyiliz (217) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 27, 2013
Dark root beer color with little to no head. Nose of caramel vanilla, banana and bourbon. Light body, with heavy booze dry flavor. Bourbon notes and oak really come through on the finish. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - SEP 7, 2013
Bottle:   Deep caramel, thin sudsy tannish head, little lacing.   Oak and alcohol immediately up front, otherwise slight bourbon and burnt vanilla.   Bourbon is more noticeable on the tongue, albeit its not all that sweet.   A little tangy and tart, body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Semi-sweet oak on the finish, caramel malt albeit not all that sweet, with a strong tart breadiness.   Pretty tasty, but while not rough for the 12% ABV, its a little rough in that its not soft and sweet like many others.   Still fairly tasty tho!   Thanks Kevin!
