12 oz bottle at home. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige film. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, mild bourbon notes, vanilla, caramel, mild smoke, oak, better than the retired version, abv remains well hidden, pretty solid. ryanfolty (2553) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - MAR 17, 2015
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2015 March 17, 2015 - 2012 bottle via trade. Dark pour with limited head that faded quickly. Aroma was roasted malt, bourbon, smoke and molasses. Taste was heavy on the roast and smoke with a cheaper type bourbon. Dogbrick (13010) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 17, 2015
This beer pours black with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to a bubbly outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, oak and dark fruit. Full-bodied and syrupy with flavors of charred malt, plum, dark chocolate and oaky bourbon. The finish is boozy with a malt and oak aftertaste. Pretty good overall. blklab2007 (2120) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 9, 2015
Bottle poured black in color with a touch of dark brown head that fell right away. Aroma has sweetness, bourbon barrels, rich malts, some heat, and chocolate. Mouth feel is medium with low side carbonation. Flavor has lots of barrels, bourbon, chocolate, molasses, mild coffee bitterness, and some heat into the finish. From the date stamped on the glass 10/08/12 this bottle is two years old and I am surprised by the amount of bourbon still showing but I think the peak has happened already and closer to a year from bottling would be my future target. 12oz bottle pours a dark brown/black with a small tan head. Aroma has a big sweet bourbon presence, molasses, chocolate and vanilla. Taste similar to aroma with some bitter coffee on the finish. Nice as far as barrel aged stouts go nothing too complex or mind blowing.

Bottled 10/08/12. 12 oz bottle courtesy of Chris, served next to the base in a stem glass. Pours deep black with a small tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has enormous vanilla and chocolate notes with huge molasses and oak. A slight smokiness is present in the background, along with dark fruit and some earth. The flavour is quite sweet with oak, vanilla, bourbon and slight chocolate. A slight herbal and earthy note is present as well. The finish is long and oaky with bourbon, vanilla and molasses. On the palate it is full in body with a smooth, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall a great bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with elegant vanilla and molasses notes. 2014-12-11 wchesser (2076) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 19, 2014
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2014 Bottle from Flandersned-thanks, Steve! Dark but with translucent rim. Nose is sweet bourbon, light milk chocolate, and vanilla. Taste follows, rich, some hazelnut chocolatiness, but a harsh element here maybe from the hops. Doesn’t quite come together. Not as good as the first Barrel Aged Shipwreck I had but some similarities here for sure. Terrific campfire beer on a chilly fall night though...no complaints here. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 14, 2014
12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, some roasted malts, bourbon and oak, chocolate, light coffee, and some light spices. This is an imperial stout, but I feel like it has some of the attributes of a Belgian quad. Smooth texture. Could be better for what it is, but you know, they tried. jackl (8071) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 9, 2014
Bottle @ Chez Bruce. Deep brown with hardly any head. Huge forest fruits, bruised cherry and fig. Brown sugar sweetness. Chocolate.similar flavour. Sweet red fruits. Pretty syrupy, dark chocolates. Full body, oily. Actually not bad. Homer321 (5071) - Melboring, Florida, USA - DEC 20, 2013
Bottle share thanks to droopface. Nose of marshmallow and vanilla. Slightly tart with some astringency. Noticeable alcohol warning in the finish. Some cocoa and soft chocolate as well. Not too much booze. Some vanilla. Not too bad but tastes like a glorified homebrew.
