COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The story of Brigid (pronounced "Breed") is one shrouded in mystery; equal parts pagan history and Catholic sainthood, the one thing that seems to hold true is that she embodies the fiery spirit of Ireland. Our paean to her is held within the confines of a fine Irish-style red ale, a proud exultation that is bright, bold, and smooth. Brewed with molasses for a hint of jammy dark fruit, low-medium hints of earthy hops come through, and creamy malt provides a calming backbone. A modest alcohol content keeps everything convivial, as there’s plenty to toast come early spring.

Draft Sample at MBG Winterfest 2010. Poured reddish brown with an average frothy off-white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet bitter flavor with a sweet finish of moderate duration. This beer would go well with spicy food.

Sample on tap at Wurst Bar. Orange color. Bigger off-white head. Leaves good thicker lace. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Mild bit of smoke. Tasty bready wheat, mild bit of toasty malt. Mild tropical fruit. Mild bit of moderate bitter, lighter sweet. Yeah! Nice, balanced Irish Ale! Would drink pint! And speak in Irish accent!

Draft to taster at the Kalamazoo brewpub. Looks solid; a mostly transparent amberish caramel with ample foamy off-white head. Smells malty with notes of ale yeast and a touch of molasses alongside softer notes of hops and toast. Tastes like it smells with a slightly bitter and fairly crisp medium-light to medium bodied mouthfeel. A bit of caramel on the tongue as well. Not bad.

Draught at TJ’s: Aroma of malt and grain. Poured copper/slight amber in color with a large, creamy, dense, rocky, off-white/tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, grain, corn, slight hops, and some trash. Light to medium body. Average carbonation. Average texture. Malt, grain, and corn finish is dry.

From notes. On tap at Dan's on March 28. The pour is a nice reddish dark copper with minimal head and just about no lacing. The aroma is lightly hoppy, somewhat bitter with a little caramel there. There is a decent malt character on the back end. Overall, it's somewhat bland. The flavor is more bitter than I would anticipate for a red, which I like. There is a strong maltiness on the back end, and light caramel dominance there as well. The mouth feel is definitely thin, with a very light carbonation, and a hoppy, caramel-ish aftertaste that lingers hardly at all ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Pizza House, East Lansing. Deep orange-brown body, thin creamy off-white head. Light, floral, spicy nose. Soapy, floral hops body with notes of bubblegum and toasty malts, with modest brown sugar and caramel malt balance. Bitter finish. Merely OK.
