Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet with very powerful notes of over ripe fruit, alcohol, berries, malt, and caramel. The flavor is very sweet with a good deal of alcohol, but also with notes of over ripe fruits and caramel, as well as a light alchol burn on the palate. The massive sweetness makes it a bit cloying. Thanks Alex (fiulijn). oh6gdx (26488) - Vasa, FINLAND - AUG 22, 2007
Bottled. Ruby colour, small head. Aroma is caramel, malts, some wood, hops and alcohol. Slightly wineous. Flavour is hoppy, caramelly, slightly alcoholic and some burnt sugar. omhper (25113) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - AUG 26, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2008 Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Mahogany colour, minimal head. lactic cherry aroma with some caramel. Sweet and fruity with a tart, yoghurt-like component. Full bodied and thick, a bit syrupy. Floral resiny hops sets in late and gives shampoo flavour, black currant and resiny bitterness. A barleywine with some highlights, but also a lot of drawbacks.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Vintage 2006. Pours a clear, orangey brown with a yellowish brown head. Sweetish caramel nose. Quite full-bodied with sweet and lightly burned caramel and a wee edge of aroma hops. Sweetish finish with also some nutty accents appearing. The finish is very subdued. Nothing flashy here but quite pleasant really. 030707 madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2012

Cloudy red brown beer. Short lived biscuit coloured head which is creamy tasting and pleasant. Light palate for the style. A little dry. Very slight sour note before the rich malt hits, coca cola in there as well. Turns softer with more sour malt and mellow orange hop bitterness. Pretty decent if not the muscle car type of barleywine.
On tap at Ginger Man, NYC. Pours a dark brown/maroon with a slight, white head. Sugary sweet aroma with notes of caramel and dark fruits. Taste is faintly hoppy with a small dose of malts. Most of the flavor is sweetness: brown sugar, toffee, some chocolate. Hints of red wine, or maybe whiskey. Either way, it’s hints of alcohol. Nice, lingering sweet finish. Made a great sipping beer. Good stuff. fiulijn (20493) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 5, 2007

Hazy brown color. Caramel aroma and flavor, quite sweet, medium bitterness, but also light aroma of over-ripe apples.
Beautiful ruby-amber color, hazy; big head. The aroma is malty and hoppy, medium. The malty flavor is very strong, sweet as well, with a lot of sweet caramel, warming alcohol, correct bitterness for this brew; the hop qualities are there but hidden. Balanced Strong Ale, good.
Bottle. Pours reddish brown with tan head. Nose of fig, brown sugar and grain. Taste of fig, dark fruits, brown sugar and a sweet papaya finish. Good mouthfeel.
