This triple chocolate stout is a unique interpretation of the style, combining three different chocolate malts, cacao nibs and sixty three percent semi-sweet chocolate, creating a sinfully delicious brew. The addition of blackstrap molasses produces an earthy, caramelized tone in an already complex flavor profile. Its creamy, milkshake-like mouthfeel earns this beer the reputation of being dessert in glass

Bottle and draught, Spring 2008 at Sunset Grill. Very thick, viscous-looking mahogany-to-black body with a dense tan head. Tar and chocolate rise up from the liquid, with cinnamon??? and other such spices coming in as well. Very rich nose to it, with vanilla as an afterthought. In the mouth its somewhat less chewy/thick than expected, with a more dried-out mouthfeel, thanks in part to the spiciness. They dont really say anything about spice additions, but man is this stuff full of cinnamon. To the point of it being way too much. Chocolate element is well-done and would have been highly pleasant without the dry, fatiguing spiciness. Vanilla and sweet caramel round out the finish, with little in the way of roast or bitterness. Some floral hop notes are appreciated but lend little to the overall character of the beer. Too spicy!

Bottle poured into a snifter. I was expecting a lot more from a triple chocolate stout. Aroma was lightly chocolate and taste was slightly sweet. Ive pretty much already forgotten I drank this beer.

On tap at BSTR. I see ratings all over the map. Could it be a bottling issue? I had it on tap and it poured a dark brown with a tan head. Chocolate, cacao and dark malt in the taste and aroma. It was really pretty decent.

The deScription here is generous. Thin..especially for a brew that touts it is made with molasses and lactose. It isnt bitter at all and it does have a very nice deep dark appearance.

Pours a dark brown almost black color with khaki colored head. Chocolate, caramel, and roasted notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with roast and some cocoa.

Not quite as cocoa as expected. Plus has an odd aftertaste. Scent was great, thought I was getting into a super bev...not the same. I see why it is rated low. Tap.

Very nice molasses, dark fruit slightly tart aroma and flavor.  Taste is full flavored maybe slight watery but not much. Complex. Cherry dark fruit stout but not fruity. Woody almost.  Very nice beer.  ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured into a perfect pint. 3.25 A: Black color. Two fingers of frothy light brown head. Retention is lacking, but a short ring of lacing is left. 4.0 S: This smells great! The chocolate and molasses mesh with the roasted barley to make something special. It integrates so well. The lactose then offers a little twang to the mix. The powerful, yet supple roast is balanced by malty sweetness with caramel and even a touch of dark fruits. 3.25 T: Unfortunately the nose is much deeper and better integrated than the taste. Still, its good, just not great. Moderate to heavy roastiness enhances the hop bitteness. The sweetness doesnt quite balance it out. The chocolate, molasses, lactose combo seems out of balance with the roast. Somewhat of an ashy taste on finish. Herbal and citrusy hops. 3.25 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Its creamy, but in a not creamy way. Its hard to explain why Im not a huge fan of this mouthfeel. 3.25 D: The nose got me interested, but unfortunately this beer falls just north of average. Draught @ Coopers Craft and Kitchen. Inky black with creamy medium sized beige head, faint mocha aroma, low carbonation, full body, bitter chocolate taste with alcohol undertones, abrupt finish with bitter coffee beans aftertaste. Quite a complex brew, like a milk stout.

Does not deliver on anything it advertises and lacks any stout like qualities. So disappointing on every level. Not worth discussing.

Sour raspberry aroma. Appearance is brown with poor tan colored head. Flavor is oxidized and sour with muted notes of cocoa and raspberry. Mouthfeel is medium with medium light carbonation. Overall, the beer tastes old and infected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
