UPDATED: APR 8, 2014 Bottle: Dark amber-orange hybrid with a quickly dispersing, white head. The beer looks quite thick on the pour. Aroma is very hoppy, full of citrus, pine, with a light white pepper-esque finish. The first sip is very sharp, warm, and spicy. Almost like peppercorns thrown on top of heavy, dank, hot hop resins. Rubbing alcohol flavor as the beer warms. Some sweeter malts in the end with just a little bit of citrus... But youíre left with a scraping bitterness. Thick, gritty body. Very harsh and not good at concealing the alcohol. Not really my thing, here. Rpitteng (15) - Netcong, New Jersey, USA - OCT 1, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2013 Pours a deep amber, almost orange. Fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops out front, followed by pine and some floral. Very balanced for an IPA. Taste follows the nose with a lingering sweet citrus floral finish. We?ll rounded, and not overpowering. Good imperial IPA. Acknud (1081) - Morganfield, Kentucky, USA - AUG 17, 2013
Very nice IPA. Murky golden with a tight small head. Citrus/ pine on the nose. Very crisp going down. This would be greatly satisfying on a hot day. drsordr (2630) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - JUN 16, 2013
Bottle pour yellowish copper. Nose floral and tropical fruit hop with a hint of malt. Taste grassy herbal hop bitterness p front. Mid palate sweetness. Finish with bitterness and some burn from the alcohol. musinj6 (506) - Dedham, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 12, 2013
Pours a hazy straw golden color with 1 finger head that lingers leaving heavy lacing. Somewhat sweet with moderate bitterness. Toasted malt, resinous hops, hint of caramel. Full body, softer, creamy carbonation which is a little different for the IPA body. Pretty well balanced. Long, smooth but bitter finish. This is a good imperial IPA. Unique

Thick with malt sweetness well balanced with hops. Bright orange color hints at brighter citrus expression. AndyW68 (1536) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Inconsistent hazy orange with white head. Aroma is pine, citrus and alcohol. Taste is Bitter citrus with unpleasant alcohol in the back. I donít really like this beer. BeerSquare (117) - - APR 22, 2013
I had the chance to sample a bottle of last yearís, plus a bottle of this yearís in the same day, so Iím obligated to comment.
This is an interesting IIPA. Itíll smack you around a bit-- it does earn itís extra "I" and the alcohol is significant in the taste.
Very appealing color-- last yearís was notably cloudier and oranger than this years, but still a very nice looking beer.
Clear aroma with just a hint of hops and alcohol.
The taste is very complex, and Iíve always noted a lot of variation between bottles. . . at least in terms of perception. Still really good though for a dose of true hopness.
You do wish the alcohol was a bit more subtle (seriously, youíd guess it was north of 10-12%), but itís worth it to chew on all the piney, resiny, skunky goodness.
I especially like the way it is at the same time sharp, citrusy, piney, sweet, floral and fruity (apple, mostly), without any of these notes overpowering the others.
Good stuff. If it were a bit more refined it might be "great". . . but it also might not be as unique. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - APR 21, 2013
Bottle. Golden orange pour with tan head. Aroma is lightly hopped with not much of anything. Alcohol come through with some citrus hops, some light malt balancing tones. fattybladdy (628) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - APR 19, 2013
Bottle. Pours a light orange with a slight white head. Citrusy aroma. Taste is bitter grapefruit up front, followed by some citrus, balanced out with some caramel maltiness. Good stuff, would certainly drink again.
