COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Imperial IPA has an assertive aroma of sticky, resinous Summit hops. A complex flavor profile includes notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, and spruce. Though the flavor focus is on hops, a trio of malts provides a balance to the beer, creating a delicious level of palatability. Hints of caramel, toffee, and freshly-baked biscuits are also apparent in the flavor profile.

This beer has a bad aftertaste of alcohol. The aftertaste is similar to gin or vodka. I paid $13 for a 4 pack that says hop rocket on the bottle. I barely tasted any hops. Poor effort in my professional opinion. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 8, 2014 Bottle: Dark amber-orange hybrid with a quickly dispersing, white head. The beer looks quite thick on the pour. Aroma is very hoppy, full of citrus, pine, with a light white pepper-esque finish. The first sip is very sharp, warm, and spicy. Almost like peppercorns thrown on top of heavy, dank, hot hop resins. Rubbing alcohol flavor as the beer warms. Some sweeter malts in the end with just a little bit of citrus... But you’re left with a scraping bitterness. Thick, gritty body. Very harsh and not good at concealing the alcohol. Not really my thing, here.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2013 Pours a deep amber, almost orange. Fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops out front, followed by pine and some floral. Very balanced for an IPA. Taste follows the nose with a lingering sweet citrus floral finish. We?ll rounded, and not overpowering. Good imperial IPA.

Very nice IPA. Murky golden with a tight small head. Citrus/ pine on the nose. Very crisp going down. This would be greatly satisfying on a hot day.

Bottle pour yellowish copper. Nose floral and tropical fruit hop with a hint of malt. Taste grassy herbal hop bitterness p front. Mid palate sweetness. Finish with bitterness and some burn from the alcohol.

Pours a hazy straw golden color with 1 finger head that lingers leaving heavy lacing. Somewhat sweet with moderate bitterness. Toasted malt, resinous hops, hint of caramel. Full body, softer, creamy carbonation which is a little different for the IPA body. Pretty well balanced. Long, smooth but bitter finish. This is a good imperial IPA. Unique

Thick with malt sweetness well balanced with hops. Bright orange color hints at brighter citrus expression.

Inconsistent hazy orange with white head. Aroma is pine, citrus and alcohol. Taste is Bitter citrus with unpleasant alcohol in the back. I don’t really like this beer.

I had the chance to sample a bottle of last year’s, plus a bottle of this year’s in the same day, so I’m obligated to comment. This is an interesting IIPA. It’ll smack you around a bit-- it does earn it’s extra "I" and the alcohol is significant in the taste. Very appealing color-- last year’s was notably cloudier and oranger than this years, but still a very nice looking beer. Clear aroma with just a hint of hops and alcohol. The taste is very complex, and I’ve always noted a lot of variation between bottles. . . at least in terms of perception. Still really good though for a dose of true hopness. You do wish the alcohol was a bit more subtle (seriously, you’d guess it was north of 10-12%), but it’s worth it to chew on all the piney, resiny, skunky goodness. I especially like the way it is at the same time sharp, citrusy, piney, sweet, floral and fruity (apple, mostly), without any of these notes overpowering the others. Good stuff. If it were a bit more refined it might be "great". . . but it also might not be as unique.
