COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This remarkably balanced brew has a deep amber hue with a generous white head. Hopmouth showcases a rich, toasty flavor and sweet caramel notes because of the high-quality Maris Otter malt used. The hops are up front in the aroma, reminiscent of citrus and pine, while the resin-like flavors linger well after the last sip.

Bottle shared with blankboy, jerc and tupalev at the hotel after the MBG Summer Festival - jerc’s bottle. Hazy dark amber with a good sized off-white head. Aroma is nicely hopped, with those wonderful grapefruit and pineapple notes that I really like. Mouthfeel is soft and creamy, very nice. Flavour is big and well balanced, with the citric, resiny hops backed up nicely by sweet caramel malts. A very well made IIPA, and a great way to cap off a day of drinking fantastic beer!

Bottle... Very hazy orange ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Excellent retention. Malty, fruity nose with lots of freshly sliced grapefruit, pineapple, peach and dashes of evergreen and black tea. Hefty malt backbone with lots of hop bitterness for good balance. Flavors of grapefruit, toffee and apricot. Full-bodied with an astringent mouthfeel and gentle carbonation. Lengthy, dry, grassy finish. A shout goes out to WBC for shipping me the bottle!

Clear reddish amber pour under a tall rocky off-white head. Very fragrant brew with pine resin and grapefruits bubbling out of the settling head. Citrusy and hoppy flavor but not as well balanced as other impy IPAs. Rich and smooth mouthfeel and a sinister (in a good way) bitter finish with some alcohol sneeking out every half sip or so.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2012 2012-07-28. Crisp dark orange body with a modest beige head. 3+ Flavour has a decent amount of bitterness, modest citrusy hops, light sweet orange notes, hints at tangerines. Citrus seed notes come out more as the glass goes on. Aroma is pretty alcoholic, very mild hops and malt. 6+ Average plus to medium bodied palate. 3+ Enjoyable, bit boozy at times and the bitterness is a touch sharp. The hops are likely a bit faded since the bottle is a few months old, but its pretty decent nonetheless. Alcohol is tamed a bit in the second half of the glass. 7/3/7/3/15+ 3.6 Bottle from Michigan Trip

2006-07-XX. Orange amber body with a creamy beige head. Resiny mild aroma with sweet orange presence. Very sweet citrusy orange hops. Flavour becomes more resiny and bitter as the glass goes on. Deep rooted sweet malt has only brief moments of prominence but manages to keep a good semblance of balance throughout. Medium palate is perfect for this beer. Quite nice! 7-8/4/7-8/4/16

As Milewide said, this is pretty good, but very harsh. Something in the balance is missing, and there is a strong alcoholic finish that makes me cringe as if I just sucked on a lemon. Pretty good.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2007 Red amber color. Less hop citrus and bitter flavors than other double IPAs that I’ve tried. Solid mouth feel.

Pours a cloudy orange with a thick lasting head that looks like a half pint of milk with a shot of dr.pepper in it (which really is kind of tasty). Mint aroma with the prerequisite pine, and grass notes. Dusty taste. Pine and grass flavor that is muted with a pepto bismol flavor that while not unpleasant is unwelcome here. Finish is alcohol and paper with dry grass. I’ve sat here for a while trying to put more words to this, but they are not needed. While not unpleasant this beer is unremarkable.

22oz bomber from blue max liquors minneapolis: uncaps with a huge aroma of fresh hops.. did they dry hop in the bottle? ;) flavor is surprisingly smooth for a double IPA but very tasty, not at all overly aggressive. pleasant and long lasting taste of hops on the palate. definitely a brew to try.

Hazy copper-amber, tall pillowy manila head. The aroma is quite nice, very fruity, pears, apricots, pineapple, melom, all that jazz. The flavor is interesting, leans towards pineapple and melon hops with some lightly plasitc maltiness. More malty then I expected. The palate is medium with a nice lingering bitterness. Quite enjoyable.

Mixed results with this one - first bottle was delicious; bright hops and a huge pear taste, medium thick malty body. Second try was way off, bitter but not fruity at all.
