12oz bottle from Andersons in Toledo. Pitch black pour with a thin tan head that leaves a ring. Pleasant aroma of sweet toasty chocolate malts. Tastes are cocoa, chocolate, wine-like booze, and toffee. Finishes lightly dry ashy bitter. Thin to medium palate with little spike of carbonation late on. Like this one - very drinkable - more than the sum of its parts.
On tap at Arcadia. Interesting. The bitter hops make it more bitter and make the body feel lighter to me.

Aroma is chocolate, dark malts and mild dark fruit/tobacco. The flavor is dark malts, chocolate, dark fruit/cherries, mild tobacco and a mix of acidity and slight sweetness in the finish. SG111 (2138) - New York, USA - MAR 8, 2017
Bottled, 2016 vintage. Pours black, tan head. Aroma is lots of roasted malt, some chocolate, a little thin maybe for the abv. Very roasty. Flavor is heavy roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee bitterness, spot of plum. Again, body is a little thin, perhaps overcarbed. It’s fine, but it really doesn’t stand out to me in any way. italianjohn (3310) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 23, 2017
Black pour with a thin light tan head and light sticky lacing .... aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits, light molasses and caramel malts ..... taste is of dark fruits (plums), roasted malts, coffee and caramel malts and some dry bitter cocoa .... dry and bitter finish with dark fruits, roasted malts and chocolate .... solid and tasty with a slick and oily mouthfeel and decent body .... decent brew fuzzcro (295) - Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2016
Quite excellent...in every way. One of the better Imperial Stouts I’ve had so far this season. Black as night and sweet smokey taste...thick mouthfeel...overall enjoyable though quite unexpected.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized dark brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was strong anise, roasty malts, chocolate and red wine. The flavor was robust and intense with roasty malts, anise, red wine, chocolate and vanilla. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Well done. Braudog (6898) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - FEB 17, 2016
Bottle. As expected, this is dark and brooding. Nice pile of foam. Rich aroma of licorice, raw coffee. The drink has some unexpected sweet swirl on the outer part of the palate. Great evening sipper for a cool evening. (#6133, 2/17/2016) AWISLguy (3419) - Wisconsin, USA - JAN 10, 2016
12oz bottle from Beer Bazaar in Hainesville. Bottle date is 12/18/2013. Pours black with a reddish tint, and little head. Aroma has licorice, anything else is minor in comparison. Taste is of big licorice, coffee, cocoa. Medium to full bodied with some alcohol. Finishes more sweet than bitter. The anise leads this, although it is blended interestingly with the coffee/cocoa. 14.4

Drank from a pint glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Pours black not much head. Smells delicious, strong flavor as most imperials are. jsporrer (1144) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 27, 2015
Pours a deep dark brown almost black with just a thin tan ring. Thin to medium slightly oily body that clings to the glass. Pleasant aroma of roasted nutty malt with a hint of dark fruit or dark chocolate. Flavor is roasted malts with some bitterness. A little bit of dry smoky flavor with a slightly harsh finish. Not as smooth or thick as I had hoped for. Not bad but I’ve had better.
