Dry-hopped with Columbus hops in our open fermenters, our IPA boasts a bright floral aroma and flavor reminiscent of pine and lemon peel. The pronounced hop bitterness is balanced by a medium-bodied caramel and biscuity malt character with a nutty finish. It showcases many subtle earthy bitter notes, rather than the resinous citrus-rind bite often featured in many American-style IPA’s.

Darker than expected. Strong citrus and hops nose. Watery. Fruity. Easy to drink. Thin. It’s okay. Does not follow the Russian Imperial Sout I just finished well.

This ale poured a medium red colour with a foamy white head. Scents include citrus hops, olives, dill and leather. First sip was smooth with flavours of lemon citrus, dill and honey. Finish is medium bitter with the cirus hops lingering.

Bottle. Poured clear dark amber with a thin creamy tan head. Aroma of fresh Columbus hops. Light-medium body with a crisp mouthfeel, slight alcohol finish with moderate bitterness. Herbal hop flavour with lemon citrus notes, a bit grainy and acidic near the end.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/6/2014. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, bready malt, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pine, floral, grass, toast, biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Good complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops, bready malt, and fruity yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a good English IPA. All around good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, bready malt, and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a hazy copper-amber color with some floaties and with a super intense head of white foam that prevents the beer from being poured in a single pour. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to where more beer could be poured into the glass. Eventually all the head faded away to leave a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is bready with mostly a citrus hop aroma of grapefruit. Along with these smells are some floral hops and a dank pine hop smell as well as a little bit of a tropical fruit sweetness. Taste – The taste begins with a very lightly toasted and bready flavor with a moderate showing of tropical fruit sweetness of tangerine and a little bit of mango. There is a bitter grapefruit hop upfront that creates a hop base for the brew. While there are tropical fruits upfront, they later fade being replaced by a little bit of a caramel flavor. Along with the change in sweeter flavors also comes an increase in the hop with the grapefruit getting accompanied a stronger some pine and a bit of an herbal taste. A little bit of tangerine and mango come back to the tongue at the end, with the mix of flavors leaving a somewhat dank hopped, but still malty and lightly fruity flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather average in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the style a little lower carbonation may have been better for the dank hop and bready tastes, but overall the feel was pretty decent. Overall – An alright IPA that is slightly more dank and resinous in hop profile. It was alright, but nothing too special overall, with me likely taking other IPA’s of comparable price and abv. over this one.

The hop character on this is a little different than a run-of-the-mill IPA, I’d say, more of a floral perfumy kind of thing than citrus and pine. It is a very cloudy orange beer w/ an oversized head of mixed bubbles. Nose is lavender baby powder with maybe a hint of grapefruit zest. The big head on this makes me think it was over-carbonated in the bottles and like most over-carbonated beers, it (somewhat counter-intuitively) pours a bit flat, which is a shame because this is an otherwise nice IPA. It has a nice floral character and clean, crip bitterness in the finish balance by a touch of malt sweetness. I will hopefully remember to pick some of this up again and see if this wasn’t just an off batch--which I suspect it was.

Bottle - dark copper color with small soapy head. Aroma - pretty blah for an ipa. Muted resin hops, thats it. Taste - caramel malt up front with metallic tasting hops, not good. Palate - thin soapy mothfeel. Finish is bitter and off taste that lingers. Overall - below average ipa. Tastes more like a APA, not a high quality beer.

Pours a clear amber-orange with a rocky cream-colored head that leaves some soapy lace as it settles. Nose involves pine, florals, herbal notes, light caramel, and some citrus zest. LIghtly sweet, quite bitter. Medium bodied, a bit grainy, somewhat oily, bright, with a long piney hop finish. Good, balanced English-American IPA. Really drinkable, definitely not over the top or in your face, as announced. I think it’s a bit underrated.
