This spiced amber-wheat ale is our celebration of the arrival of Autumn. Using the finest malted barley and a small amount of wheat for mouthfeel, Jaw-Jacker displays a brilliant orange-amber color, despite the absence of pumpkin in the recipe. The addition of cinnamon, all-spice and nutmeg (in the exact proportions of a family pumpkin pie recipe) creates a refreshingly spicy, season brew.

Aroma is cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is sweet and malty, and has a nice light hoppy bitterness. Not crazy about pumpkin beers.

JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Hazed golden color with a smallish taupe colored head. Dry malt, cinnamon, mace, caramel, and touch of lacquer. Mild sweet caramel in the front. Middle is filled with spices of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Again I am getting some Ethyl acetate (like being in the old paint store). 4/14

12 oz bottle. 6%. (Arcadia Brewing Co) Kalamazoo, Mi.
Halloween rooftop rating session in the dark. Chicago, IL.

Clear deep golden color with a tiny white head. Ginger ale, pumpkin, sweetness, spices, raisin and sweet malt in the aroma. The flavor is darkish fruit juice, pumpkin, mild hops, spices, sweetness and malt. Not the worst pumpkin brew.

snoworsummer (5697) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - OCT 12, 2016
Draft. Pours hazy amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes like pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, and doughy malt. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like cinnamon, cloves, and pumpkin.

sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - OCT 10, 2016
Tap at festival. Pours mostly clear amber. Aroma and flavor are pumpkin, spice, and toast. Medium body.

Poured into a pint glass. 3.0 A: Moderately hazed medium orange color. Two fingers of frothy/creamy beige head. Retention is a touch below average and a short ring of lacing is left. 3.25 S: Pumpkin spices featuring cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice. Caramel maltiness with toastiness underneath. It doesn’t have much of an actual pumpkin component - it seems spice heavy. Still, it’s pleasant. 3.0 T: Taste is like the nose. It’s spice heavy without a pumpkin backbone. Toasty and caramel malts. 2.75 M: Light to lighter medium body. Watery feel. Good moderate carbonation. Lacking creaminess. 2.75 D: It’s not horrible, but it’s one of the weaker pumpkin beers I’ve had this year. ★ 695 characters DavoleBomb, Dec 10, 2015

Pours pumpkin orange with a thin white head. Cinnamon and nutmeg but not much in the way of pumpkin. Not bad but it’s easy to find better pumpkins.

patrick767 (4063) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 23, 2015
bottle - Pours slightly hazy orange and smells of pumpkin pie spices, which of course is the point. The flavor is fairly sweet with nutmeg and cinnamon noticeable but not overly strong. Light to medium bodied. Average or a little better overall.

DATE TASTED: October 22, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Schneider Wiesen Edel-Weisse pokal... OCCASION: another good Thursday ends with some beer... APPEARANCE: lazy, hazy, off-white head that settles to a consistent halo; body is an orange-amber, equally hazy body with slight effervescence--a fitting, Autumnal view... AROMA: light gingerbread, nutmeg and pumpkin spices allure the nostrils; a wheaty clove spice... PALATE: thin, wheaty in consistency; smooth and easy drinking--a bit too easy?... TASTE: a mellow, blunted impact that belies the aroma; nutmeg and pumpkin spices are clearest, with cinnamon and allspice or pepper developing the profile into a larger-than-expected flavor experience; the lightness of body plays out in the flavor, allowing for a swift sipping and a reasonably enjoyable quality... OVERALL: not sure how to take this one at first, with its lightness exhibiting a wheat beer, its ABV upwards of an ale, and a taste that blend the two... intriguing enough to encourage another bottle--a possibility, but not a necessity...
