I am a fan of few things, but Scotch Ale is one of them. I have few to choose from in my neck of the Tundra, but Arcadia hit town a while back, and it has yet to disappoint.
This is the beer that separates the Scotch Ale from the Scottish Ale. This is definitely thicker, meatier, if you will, than my other fave in the latter category, Robert the Bruce. Highly recommend anyone who wants to know what all the hubbub is about regarding this autumnal style.
Dark malt amber with an imbued hue of dark red producing a creamy head. Aromas hay, caramel, light toffee, candy sugar/brown sugar and some toasty/nutty. Flavors light brown sugar, light toffee/caramel, lightly nutty. Lightly sweet with just a slight roasty aftertaste. Has some subtle complexities to it that make the style. rougeau13 (3158) - Richmond, Texas, USA - AUG 29, 2017
Bottle. Aroma of caramel, metal, toast and soap. Tastes sweet and toasty and a little bitter. Medium bodied but thinnish. neroaga (42) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 25, 2017
Dark ale with no head and little carbonation. It has a light malty taste with some smokey notes dfinney23 (3395) - Houston, Texas, USA - AUG 15, 2017
Torn on this. Dark fruit and mystery but a faint metallic twang ruins the finish for me. trentejgordon (7) - - AUG 7, 2017 does not count
Not much aroma. Doesn't have the harsh aftertaste of some Scotch Ales. Not my favorite beer type.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2017 It’s good, but I’m also not really impressed by it. It’s more similar to Barley wines I’ve had then scotch ales honestly. DWestrick (804) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUL 3, 2017
