COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer lover’s consummate coffee beer; brewed with oat malt, which lends a powerfully silky body, and a hint of nuttiness. Brewed with Papa New Guinea coffee from our neighbors at Kalamazoo Coffee Company, there are rich notes of dark chocolate, dark fruit and tons of refreshingly intense coffee flavor. Suggested apparel pairing is your choice of smoking jacket, or bathrobe and favorite slippers the next morning. When the day drags on and the night’s too long , pick up a Nightcap.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8291) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2018
Sampled on draft at 3 Rivers this beer poured a black color with a large creamy brown head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was dry and roasty with notes of coffee and vanilla cream. The flavor was very bitter with brewed coffee, cream and undertones that were slightly sour and astringent. Long brewed coffee finish. Medium body. Pretty awful

Bottle sampled in a glass, this beer was dark brown, it had a small faint off-white cover of bubbles that receded quickly, this drink had aromas of dark roasted coffee, some roasted and toasted malt, dark cocoa, a hint of bread, faint brown sugar in the background, some burnt or over roasted coffee notes, the flavors were pretty much the same as the nose, lots of dark roasted coffee, some toasted and roasted malt, faint chocolate, some malt sweetness, light hop bitterness with coffee bitterness, coffee and bitterness lingered on, and faint over roasted coffee notes, the mouth feel was light and a bit thin, it had soft to less than average carbonation, this drink was a bit disappointing.

Had this glass from a tap at Puff n Stuff. Big & black. Smell is odd sweet off fruit & volatile. Nose carries over to the taste. Stout with odd fruity pepper coffee fruit backbone. Unique and weird. Its almost like its tanted with vinegar without the tartness. Yes, odd coffee brew thang that is almost difficult in the end, not one of my favorite coffee brews.

Looks and smells great, but taste is a cross between sour and bitter. I'm not a fan of brightly acidic, lightly roasted coffees and this beer is right there on the flavor profile. Perhaps a bad bottle? It was stamped 10/10/17 and purchased at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee, WI.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2017 Pours the exact color of coffee with a thin white head. Tastes like an iced coffee with a little smokiness. A good coffee porter.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2017 bottle. near black with small head. huge coffee aroma. smells really nice. the flavor carries this on. it's almost more of a coffee drink with some beer elements than the reverse. very dry, acidic, finish is almost tart. i'm not a huge coffee guy, but i like the addition of coffee to beer. this seems to take it a bit too far. the lingering acidity is slightly unpleasant to my tastes.

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is fresh coffee, roasted malt, slight chocolate, no lactose sweetness which is great. Appearance is dark brown, quickly dissipating light brown head, opaque. Taste is fresh coffee, chocolate, slightly acidic, roasted malt, a little disappointing. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light to medium carbonation, roasty coffee acidic aftertaste. Overall, the smell is good but it falls off from there.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/22/2017. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, vanilla, cream, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, vanilla, cream, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, light vanilla/smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.4%. Overall this is an excellent coffee porter! All around great dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter finish. Nicely rich for the modest ABV. Really great fruity/nutty coffee vibrancy; with perfectly balanced malts. Very well rounded on complexity, never overly roasty or bitter. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Draught at Hop Cat. Really big coffee aroma. Light body but with a significant amount of coffee and some light chocolate.

AWISLguy (3429) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 20, 2017
On tap at Hop Cat in Madison. Black pour with a beige head. Aroma has great coffee. Subtle chocolate, other malts. Taste is a bit of a muddle; chocolate, bitter coffee grounds, caramel. Medium bodied with a touch of alcohol, the blend is decent. Finishes quite bitter. Great start, but doesn’t complete. 13.5
