On tap at the source. Part of the large scale brewery road trip. Unfortunate plastic cup. Price you pay to play bags outdoors. Lighter golden color with plenty of white head. Aroma is mostly citrus with maybe a hint of floral. Taste is mostly bitter but has the pleasant grainy spicy notes of rye. Bright and punchy come to mind as adjectives. Pours murky lemon yellow with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, floral and lemon. Light sweet flavor that finishes bitter but still seems to balance.

Bottle. Golden in colour. Very bitter resinous hops, citrus grapefruit and pine dominate over sweet toffee malts. Distinctly spicy and peppery; also rather earthy. Very dry finish. Really an IPA made with rye malt. Decent. (2010-09)

12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours moderate hazy/cloudy golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, honey, light caramel, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate rye/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, honey, light caramel, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel bitterness and rye spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, citrus peel, pine, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate rye/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero lingering hop/rye astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a great rye pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate rye/bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the balanced bitter/spicy flavors.
