In honor of our adventurous friends at Sky Dive Inc. in Hastings, Michigan, we crafted a truly adventurous brew in Sky High Rye. A West Coast-style Pale Ale with rye malt, Sky High Rye boasts a massive floral aroma of resinous hops. The hops contribute flavor notes of lemons, peaches, and pine needles, combined with the sweet, malty flavors of toffee and bread. Rye adds a pleasant peppery, spicy note like a fresh slice of pumpernickel bread. Very well-rounded and very drinkable, Sky High Rye will surely inspire adventure in all who taste it.
This West Coast-style Pale Ale is brewed with eighty percent English barley malts and twenty percent rye malt. It boasts a massive floral aroma of resinous hops, contributing notes of lemons, peaches and pine needles and is anchored by the sweet malty flavors of toffee and freshly baked pumpernickel bread.

Pours a hazy light copper with a foamy white head. Aroma is rye, citrus, spice, and resin. Flavor is almost tart lemon, rye, and some resin. Has a nice, smooth body with plenty of carbonation and low bitterness. Solid.

Can at bar in NYC. Yeah it seemed like a rye beer to me but it was so old that the hops had faded to a gross malt bomb. :(

Clear bronze pour, some headish. Watery aroma, rye, barley, resin hop, malt, pine and something a little sweet, thinking its the peach. Flavor is more mild and not as exciting. Bready and earthy with more pine and rye hop. A slight bitterness at the end plays with the fruit to make this beer almost memorable. Still not my favorite.

Served in a pint glass on tap. One finger head that didnt last. Very low viscosity with little to no lacing. Smell is faintly characteristic of hops and fruit but alarmingly it smells a bit like a light beer with a touch of alcohol coming through. As for the taste, it is much like a light beer upon the first few sips but after more careful evaluation, the tones listed in its description come through. Most notably a piny bite begins as soon as the beer traverses the back of the tongue. The beginning is generally tasteless like a light beer however the finish is piny, citrusy, and even sweet with no taste left behind. The mouthfeel is watery which explains a non lingering finish, lack of lacing, and why I connect this beer to a big name light beer. Overall this ipa may be good for someone wanting to stop drinking domestic lights and start drinking craft however this is not my first choice.
