Keg at Ratebeer Best Beer Festival. 31/01/2016. A dark black / mahogany brown coloured pour with loose tan head. Aroma is sweet dark sticky malts, vanilla, cinnamon, pralines. Flavour is composed of full on sticky brown sugars, brown malts, spicy coffee, little coffee bea, hint of wood. Palate is full sticky sweet, moderate carbonation. Solid. From memory better than the orig.

On tap at RateBeer Best 2016. Pour is black with a small brown head. Aroma and flavor of dark chocolate, vanilla, touch of roast, and a ton of booze. Finish is boozy sweet chocolate.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark looking body that supports a light mocha colored head. The aroma offers up molasses sweetened and vanilla sweetened spicy oak and then smooth whiskey booziness with a sliver of chocolate in the background. The taste is smooth and soft with smooth subtle sweet vanilla, molasses and then sweetened oak blended with smooth whiskey notes. In the background lurks a modest yet persistent chocolate goodness.

Draft at RateBeer Best 2016. Pours black with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds moderate coconut, chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla and scorched earth. Fairly sweet, with gooey chocolate and more earthy, burnt wood bitterness. Full bodied and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, sticky sweet, with continuing chocolate and earth. Good stuff overall, if sweet.

Dark brown almost black pour with a small brown head. Whiskey and bourbon forward. Some nice chocolate, roast and faint vanilla flavors. Nice and tasty barrel aged imperial stout.

Black pour with small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, vanilla and bourbon. Taste of chocolate, roasted malts, burnt coffee, vanilla, coconut, slight caramel and bitter dry hoppy finish. Nicely balanced, a good solid beer but really was expecting more out of this one.

On tap @ RateBeer Best 2016. Black in color with a tan head. Black pour with a thin tan head. I get a little booze here and a lot of chocolate, coffee, and some smoke. There’s a fair bit of barrel and oak character to it, certainly. Kind of a burnt/roasted malt bitterness. Nice sweetness of vanilla, coconut, and brown sugar.

Draft pour at RB Best. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head that settles into a bubbly ring. Barrel-forward, with oak, brown sugar, vanilla, cocoa, marshmallow, roasted malts, and tobacco. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, dry mouthfeel. Very nice barrel-aged stout.

Deep brown pour with a medium brown head. Loads of bourbon up front! Very vanilla and toffee forward, cocoa, light roast. Sweet and delicious.
