On tap: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, nuts, caramel, light bourbon and vanilla. It’s a dark, somewhat muddy, brown with a small off-white head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a thick ring. The flavor starts moderate chocolate and caramel. There is some nuts in the middle. The finish light-moderate bourbon, light vanilla, oak, roast, and a touch of mint. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. bytemesis (9622) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - OCT 4, 2016
Tap. Pours opaque black, small beige head, dissipates almost completely leaving minimal residual or lacing. Aroma is bourbony, cocoa, vanilla, lactose. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, bourbon and cocoa plus vanila. Medium body, seems to hold up well to me. Some heat apparent. Pretty solid BA beer. Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a brown body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up spicy oak, boozy bourbon, sweet nuttiness and then a chocolate note. The taste delivers loads of malt sweetened boozy bourbon and then thin shards of spicy oak. It gets more sweet bourbony into the finish as the bourbon is nicely softened by all the sweetness. Dark brown color with a tan head. A nice bourbon character with some nice chocolate sweetness to meet some toffee and vanilla flavors. A nice bourbon aged stout. mikedR (1561) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - MAR 14, 2015
Superb. I’m not usually a big bourbon barrel-aging guy, because usually the bourbon is just too heavy. This one gets it nearly about right; I’d still dial it back a few ticks. But that’s a quibble. Nice solid stout base (not sure if can glean any granola, however), with a sweet bourbon infusion.

Draft at brewpub. Clear dark ruby brown. Light head. Bourbon and granola. Sweet. Lighter body. Moderate alcohol. Still something kinda licoricey (?) like the base. Bourbon barrel works very nicely. A bit thin, but still enjoyable. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - FEB 17, 2015
draft, i really didnt like the base to this and it didn’t stand well to barrel aging. Way too thin and sharp tar flavors, the barrel just added a good bourbon treatement to that base. It was better than just the base but i left this one behind. Couldn’t finish my sample. DesertDevil (699) - Arizona, USA - FEB 16, 2015
Taster at Arizona Strong Beer Fest 2015. Bourbon-heavy aroma of distinct Four Roses and dark chocolate with mild oats and vanillin. Pours murky dark brown. So smooth on the taste; the moderate bourbon and typical stout characteristics (roasted dark malt, chocolate, granola) seamlessly blend together. Velvety smooth texture. So nice; the time spent resting in top-notch bourbon casks made this already-good base beer even more delightful. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 15, 2015
Rich brown color, tan head. Delicious. Very bourbon forward. You can really taste the 4 roses bourbon. Sweet, vanilla, oak, toffee, chocolate. Awesome.
