COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This granola stout was born from an idea while hiking in the Arizona wilderness! While in the Grand Canyon, we were craving a beer that was reminiscent of some hearty granola. This exhausting hike had us dreaming of a nutty, chocolatey, sweet and warming ale tat would get us through the hike. Enjoy this stout that was born on the trail.

Dark brown pour with small light beige head. Aroma of caramel, roasted malts, grains, faint chocolate and hops. Taste of roasted malts, barley, caramel, faint chocolate and slightly nutty. Medium bodied, thin mouthfeel, nicely balanced.

Enjoyable, smooth, light bodied stout. Much improved and we’ll complemented by flavors of chocolate, nuts, mild roasted malts, cola. Not much aroma. At the brewery’s new tap room.

Sample. Black with beige head. Chocolate, nuts, a little vanilla on the aroma. Chocolate, dark fruit and roasted nuts for the taste. A pretty good stout.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2015 Draft at brewery, interesting, a little thin and sharp, light on roast and boozy sharp finish. Low drinkability, the porter was much better. Couldnt get into this one

3fourths (9356) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 7, 2015
Dark cola brown body with a short tan colored head. Medium-full body, caramel and toffee malt flavor with character of oats, while the chocolate malt and sugar gives the impression of chocolate ice cream topping. Goopy and syrupy in the mouth, long finish of nutty caramel and ethanol. Unpleasantly alcoholic for a sub-8% beer, and the malt is simple and sweet and goopy. Not as terrible as their other beer, but offers little intrigue and no balance. Simple goopy sweet stout.

Near black. Aroma is cocoa, and rich malt. Bitter chocolate and a very smooth creamy beer with a light nutty flavour. Really nice.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark brown body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up malts, caramel malts, prunes,  dates and brown sugar. The taste starts with smooth sweet malts, brown sugar coated prunes and caramel malts. It just gets into more fruitiness with figs, dates and prunes into the finish. Nice.

On draft at the brewpub. Chocolate, caramel, heavy cinnamon, toasted almonds, a hint of vanilla and creamy peanut butter all combine for a delectable nose that truly smells like granola. Very dark brown in color with a craggy tan head. Oh my, what a taste: Peanut butter, roasted chocolate malt, sweet vanilla bean, a bit of coffee-and-cream, and a mild earthy bitterness make this a delicious easy-drinking delight. Lighter body than expected and somewhat under-carbonated. I could drink this beer all day.

brokensail (16631) - Dublin, California, USA - NOV 26, 2014
On tap @ Arizona Wilderness. Black in color with a khaki head. Smells a bit like grape juice. A lot of roasts malt, raisin, and chocolate. Kind of a licorice note and some graham cracker. The flavor has a lot of roast and dark fruits. Raisin, grape, and a bunch of cocoa powder. Licorice candy, some banana chips, and slight coffee.

On tap at the brewery. Black appearance with a diminishing tan head. Aroma and flavor of dark fruits, chocolate and nutty malts. Mild to medium sweetness. Smooth, creamy feel with a fruity finish.
