Look into the heart of the history of beer and you will find the porter. The details can be sought out on your own, just know that you are drinking the true working class style of beer. Porter made it through two Industrial Revolutions and revived in San Francisco in the 60s thanks to Anchor Brewing Co. The beer is meant for pub drinking and not meant to be a super sought out beer. The chocolate notes, velvety mouth feel and burnt caramel notes are solely malt derived. We added some smoked paprika to add a slight note of sweet smoke in background. In our humble opinion Porter doesnt need any help so its just to make this a more unique beer.

Tap. Pours opaque black, large brown creamy head, nice lacing. Light aroma, roasty with hints of smoke, ashtray, burned malts. Flavor is light sweet and light bitter, nice deep roasty on the malts gives ashes and hints of coffee grounds. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel. Solid.

Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, slight coffee, cocoa, faint smokiness. Taste of roasted malts, espresso grounds, faint nuttiness, hint of smoke and a paprika dryness on the finish. Light bodied, slightly watery mouthfeel, fizzy carbonation. Very average at best.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2015 Draft at brewery, this was great, light smokey spicey flavor really added another dimension to this, very impressive. The porter had great roast, very tasty, kept going back for more, the paprika oddly enough increased the drinkability

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2015 Dark brown with a short off-white head. Char / ashy roast and burnt popcorn huskiness aroma impression. Medium body, chewy, lightly sweet, coarse malt astringency and simple chocolate malt / roast finish. Papery and starchy coarseness on a goopy (but not overly sweet) malt body. Thankfully the smoked paprika doesnt show up, but maybe it would add some intrigue to this simple porter.

Black with a light tan head that laces really nicely. Aroma is smoke but its really nice and light, not the burning tire you get in so many others. Flavour isnt strong on smoke but its the, a really nice porter with a little smoke on top.

Draft at brewpub. Black with a creamy beige head. Light body, maybe a bit thin. Quite Smokey actually. Could easily be a smoked porter. Dry cocoa. Very mild sweetness. Not much roast. Quite easy drinking, flavorful porter.

Smells and tastes like a pretty standard mildly roasty porter except for the mouthfeel is a bit more watery than I care for.
