Pour on tap at the brewpub, slightly hazy yellow-orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice orange, bread, grass into some pine, touch of biscuit with a hint of floral hops. On tap at the brewpub where the beer pours with a clear amber body that has golden hues and supports an off white head. The aroma offers up roasted malts mixed with a mild degree of Noble to slightly lemon like citrus hops. The taste delivers roasty notes with roasted malts, lightly roasted coffee and then a sliver of burnt malts. It has a nice edge of citrus to tropical fruit to lemon grass like hoppy bitterness that works pretty good with the malt bill. In between these notes I get mild sweet fruity esters that help create more balance to the roastiness and hops.

On draft at the brewpub. Typical nose for a red with sweet medium-roasted malt, mild toffee and caramel, a semi-surprising subtle molasses note, roasted nuts, and slight earthy hops. Pours an occluded copper red with a lasting parchment-colored head. As expected, the taste is malt-forward with a strong and rich woody characteristic, a light astringency, and a faint dirty hop bitterness that fits the brew well. Medium body with a somewhat gritty texture. A well-balanced red.
