COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Santa Teresa Belgian Enkel is on tap now. The monks too enjoy a fine ale with a meal. This 5.2% abv ale uses noble hops and a yeast strain from the Trappist monestary, Westmalle.

At 4 am each morning steam billows from the Brouwerij der Trappisten van Westmalle, the trappist monastery in Westamlle Belgium. The brewery helps fund the abbey and other charitable causes. Monks have been brewing for centuries, and believe a fulfilled life requires your hands never be idles and always be providing. The monks enjoy enkels, or singles, with their dinner. A much lower ABV helps cognitive thoughts. These beers are extremely rare to find, even in Belgium, and we are very proud to represent this fine style.

Food pairing: chicken wings confit.

mcberko (17155) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 17, 2017
On tap at Arizona Wilderness, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, a minty character and toasted malt. Flavour is quite bitter, with lots of dirty yeasty notes, and again with the mintiness. Rather harsh and astringent, but it’s decent.

On tap at the brewery. Clear golden appearance with a bubbly, off-white head. Aroma of toasted grain and noble hops with lighter notes of earth, herbal spice, citrus zest and flowers. Similar flavor, adding mild hop bitterness and a light grainy sweetness. Light body with a crisp feel and ample carbonation. Clean and easy to drink overall.

Braudog (6669) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - APR 19, 2016
Based on previous notes, on tap at the Brewpub. This is a starkly yellow-orange brew, wild in nature, but overly tart and snappy IMHO. Not as well balanced as the best examples of style. (#6171)

Draft at the source. Cloudy golden orange color. Aroma of mixed tropical fruit. Taste has orange peel, lemon, pineapple, light funk. Decent.

Big yeasty belgian. Lace lines. An unfiltered experience. Lets try some pepper and make it saisonish.

Very flavorful and innovative. These guys really do test more than waters with their libations. Very light, easy drinking.

Golden amber pour with a slight white head at the brewpub. Slight Belgian nose and again in the taste. Nicely done but not a style I’m crazy about.

Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - SEP 24, 2015
Tap at Magic Rock’s Rainbow Project launch. Hazy orange shade. Small white head. Notes of green apple, oranges, banana. Grassy and herbal notes always poking through. Creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good. Has a ring of Belgian authenticity but with just about enough of its own character.
