COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - December. Previously 5.5%.
A real winter warmer! Launched in 1987 and named in honour of the present Chairmans grandfather, Sir Noel Arkell, who was born on Christmas Day. The strongest of Arkells Ales, this full-bodied beer is cleverly disguised by its distinctive light colour, and slides down very easily, leaving drinkers with a warm, tingling feeling.

Towey1989 (2116) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2016
Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear deep golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, some toffee, slight biscuity malts, a little spice and subtle orange peel. Taste of caramel, fruit, some biscuity malts, slight spicy orange, a little butterscotch and subtle spicy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dryish, malty bitterness in the finish. Dont know what to think about this beer, part like your standard pale ESB bitter but with some fruit, spice and citrus and nothing too unappealing about it. It average.

Cask handpull at The Crosse Keys Bishopsgate as Arkells Sir Noel, 5%. Presumably a rebadge of Noels Ale. Golden orange, translucent, still with a creamy white head, spiderweb lacing. Aroma is airy and indistinct. Body is smooth with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste is sugary, resinous, musty, grains, some cloth and cardboard, a touch watery in the finish. There are no bad flavours but its pretty wishy washy. Good drinkability for the abv though. Just ok but could session it.

Cask at JDW Bishop Vesey; clear amber pour with a thin magnolia head, light lemon and malt aroma, taste is surprisingly fruit wasnt expecting that from the aroma, sweet caramel, bitter on the finish.

Scopey (13314) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2014
Cask at Archies, Aberdeen. It pours clear amber with a decent beige head. The nose is soft, doughy, toasty, stewed orange, toasty and toffee. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, orange rind, marmalade, mild spice, earth, dough and toasty grain with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Perfectly acceptable esb action...

Pint in Auld Brig in Irvine (JDW) Dark gold colour with thin white head. No aroma. Tastes pretty bland. Touch of butterscotch but not much else. Slightly bitter finish. Light oily mouthfeel. Not for me sorry.

BlackHaddock (6629) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 5, 2014
Cask pint in my local Wetherspoons on 5th Dec 2014. Poured a good, bright amber colour with a thin white head. Mixed fruit and malty taste, very little aroma: got sweeter in flavour as it warmed a little in the glass. Although it had almost no smell I still enjoyed it. Almost had another pint, but I managed to drag myself away and home before I started a session (it was lunchtime when I had it).
