This beer shows the Dark Side Of The Grabanc.
Brewed with roasted barley, chocolate malt, pale malt and caramunch.
Hops: bittering: Summit, aroma : Cascade.
Formerly brewed at Fóti, production moved to KÖ-CSE in late 2012.

Batch 2 notes: The second batch, released in April 2014, ABV was raised up to 6% (from 4.5%) - and some Simcoe was added at the last hop step. Just to develop the recipe and get more aroma. ;-)

ogivlado (8500) - Zagreb, CROATIA - JUN 6, 2012
Draught at Főzdefeszt III, Budapest. Black coloured, medium sized pale brown head, herbal hoppy nose. Roasted malt, aromatic agrumey hoppy and light chocolate with pretty strong bitter herbal hoppy notes in the finish. Very nice one, for sure in TOP3 of this event.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2014 Batch 2 - 6%. On tap @CAJS, of course, thanks Armando! Very dark brown, almost black body,. Medium sized off white head. Slightly mild aroma, caramel/chocolate notes (did I imagine that?) with some slightly dank hopiness and maybe lemon. Nice, full creamy body, the biggest improvement from the original. Mild roastiness (Armando said that this one is intentionally less roasty, and it’s perhaps true, but I still thought some was present) and nice hoppy notes, bitter lemon peel, quite well balanced. Long, lasting fine herbal bitter finish, slightly peppery at some point. Nothing off about it (did think I caught some slightly soapy note, but nothing to complain about), and while it doesn’t dazzle you with overtly flashy flavors, this is another great beer from Gergely - great job!

Batch 1 - 4.5% Draft at the F-Fest. Poured an almost black body with an off whtie head. Coffee in the nose, sweet maltiness, some herbal-agrumey aroma hops too. nice roastiness getting bludgeoned by herbal hopiness, quite dry, and it’s just 4.5% wow! Softly rounded, maybe a touch soapy. The coffee and roasty notes are sorta superior to some aspects of the hopiness, but it’s a damn nice beer for its class! Thanks to armando for giving another sample too :).

dark brown colour, significant amount of creamy beige head; aroma of intensive chocolate, coffee, resiny notes; taste is the same; as always, excellent beer from master armando

Főzdefeszt, Bp. Majdnem teljesen fekete szín piszkosfehér habbal a tetején. Aromájában a karamell és pörkölt maláta kiválóan egyensúlyozik a gyógynövényes komlóval. A sima testességű, könnyen iható főzet befejezése száraz, keserédes és hosszan tart.

On tap. Black body, creamy beige head. Aroma and taste of cocoa, caramel, chocolate and fruity hops. The aroma is a bit sulfury but not that disturbing. Other than that it’s a well made beer.

Cristobal37 (1358) - Budapest, HUNGARY - AUG 7, 2012
Delicious. Wasn’t sure what to expect from a black Ipa. Turned out a very interesting mix of a nutty black ale mixed with hoppy and bitter notes. The finish was oily and filled with alcohol. Very enjoyable.

Ezt még a múltkori főzdefeszten kóstoltam, és egyből a Matuska Cerna Rakétája jutott eszembe a maga erőteljes, már-már erőltetett szőlősségével. Amúgy ugyanolyan mint a sima Grabanc: jó.

Balazs (787) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JUN 7, 2012
Tap at Főzdefeszt. Black, beige foam. Slightly less aromatic than the original, but everything else is in order. Good body, lasting bitterness especially in the finish. Roasty taste with molasses, ash, dark chocolate. Well done Armando!
