On tap @ Csakajósör - Cloudy deep copper colour, large and massive beige lacing head. Great hoppy nose with lemon peel, pine and some herbs. Taste is caramel, bread, toasted nuts, and some tropical fruits, peach, citruses on the finish. Nice fruity and hoppy aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Very well balanced, flawless red IPA. zenonn (47) - - DEC 15, 2013
Lore (2666) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 13, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2014 reddish mahogany colour, huge, long lasting yellowish head - it appears as a chritmas beer should; aroma of citrusses, mostly grapefruit and orange peel, pine resin, and honey-like maltyness; taste is, as always in case of Armando’s beers, fully dominated by hoppy bitterness (citrussy and piney notes), however maltyness can also be felt; excellent beer for Christmas
original score:8/5/9/4/17 - 4.3
re-rated on 17 Jan: ok, maybe I’m a bit biased in case of Armando’s beers (I really appreciate his mission providing us, I mean Hungarian beer-fans, with the highest quality beers from the whole World and brewing amazing beers and I admire his work), but this beer is really perfect...what a pity that it can’t be enjoyed by beer-fans outside Hungary! blackheartking (2) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 15, 2013 does not count
xmas version of the Grabanc, but not the typical overspiced xmas brew... beautiful reddish color, not too light, not too heavy: really refreshing! kapusil (1412) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 17, 2013
On tap. A bit murky reddish body with a light beige head. Huge caramel notes with toast, honey and piny, citrusy, grassy hops. Taste is like the aroma, only it has mire hop character. It’s very similar to the original Grabanc, but it has more caramel sweetness to it and also more hop flavor and bitterness. Awesome beer.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2015 Cloudy with a tannish head. Glorious red ipa coloring. Red fruits, berries, mango on the nose. Mid to heavier ipa with sweet tropical fruits initially, then shifts to a very bitter ipa. Long lasting dry hops on the palate. Really big beer. One of Hungary’s best! blackhorn (4) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 12, 2013 does not count
On tap at Csakajósör, Budapest. First of all, the foam is simply amazing, very heavy, which is always a good sign. Colour is - what a surprise! - reddish, so with the near-white head you can easily imagine a still drunk liquid Santa lurking in your glass. Then, it must be the yeast, aroma is very reminiscent of Armando’s all-time classic Grabanc. Have to taste it again, obviously, but for the first time the fruity esters produced by this strain were way more dominating than hop aromas, but this is not a negative stuff. Body is robust too, no chance to recognize the 6.5% ABV; you are trapped. The best thing comes at the end: bitterness is heavy but this is needed to balance and clear the malty flavours; to make it simple, it’s perfect, no more words needed. Overall, despite what you expect from an old hangover fella’, I found this drink a well-tuned beer, which easily could be an obvious choice to drink it all night. Not enough you are trapped, finally your grave’s been dug too. Merry Hangover! Balazs (787) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JAN 5, 2014
Special edition hand-crafted bottle at home, many many thanks to the master brewer armando629 for sending some love to the low countries :-)
Poured cloudy, with an amber color and a tan, lacing head. Syrupy sweet nose with fruits like apples, grapes, honey, caramel and spices, but with subtle hints of a bit citrus, hops and alcohol as well, just to balance it all out. First sip brings tons of hops, more hops, and a dry finish of more hops. Almost tarty. Lasting dry, bitter aftertaste. Certainly xmasy in the aroma, but a hardcore bitter IPA baseline. Excellent! ogreface (1390) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 13, 2014
Csak a jó sör, Budapest.
Kinézetre nagyon hasonlít a skót punkok klasszikusához a 5am Saint-hez, viszont annál sokkal kevésbé édeskés, jóval komlósabb, fenyősebb, kiegyensúlyozottabb, veszettül itatja magát. Utóízében sem jelentkezik az a karamellás édesség, mint az említett sörben. Egy baja van neki, nagyon alattomosan tudja elgáncsolni az embert olyan módon, hogy utána állva tud tőle aludni, méghozzá síugró pózban! Megint nagyot alkotott Armando mester! lord_totenkopf (314) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 12, 2013
Nice reddish colour with massive off-white head. Aroma of hops, mostly the pine/herbs fragrances but citruses too. Some malts are present but the real stars are the hops. Taste is very intensive and complex with a bitterness that opens like a fresh breeze and than develops into a very dry palate and aftertaste. Very good brew, maybe IPA is not a typical holiday brew but still it’s great.
