POurs amber into an English pint. Sickly looking head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sweet and sour tang aromas. Soft with upfront caramel and a lasting pit fruit finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an almost clear amber golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel and....fish? Somehow very British. Light in body, notes of caramel, fruit and vitamin-C - and perhaps some overripe sweet fruit also. Very discreet bitterness in the finish. 160808

porterhouse (1580) - Boothbay, Maine, USA - JUL 22, 2008
(500 ml bottle (best by end of 1/08) from Tully’s) Pours slightly hazy caramel amber with two fingers of biege head. Fairly big aroma of caramel, licorice and some pine. Even caught a few whiffs of Scotch at first. Mouthfeel fairly smooth but a touch fizzy and thin. Flavor of caramel and licorice with some pretty strong earthy and peaty undertones. More earth and peat than I’ve tasted in alot of Scotch ales in fact. Malty and peaty but a bit too weak. A pretty nice flavor profile - if only this were bigger and beefier. Bitterness builds toward finish and provides a light-medium hit at the end. More a Scotch in character than a bitter IMO but falls short with the low ABV and lightness.

Bottle. [Courtesy of BelJohansen, thanks buddy] Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Cloudy amber colour. Fair display of lacework. Aroma of fruit, grain, caramel, hint of floral and ask like notes. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and light dry texture. Light to moderated bitter flavour with good counter sweetness. Somewhat herbal and hoppy like dry finish.

Misleading aroma. Molasses and.... wheat. Tastes like... flat soda? Water? I can’t taste anything. Sad. Very sad.

LordCorkscrew (1774) - Ronco Scrivia (GE), ITALY - JAN 28, 2008
Merita.
