500ml bottle, unpasteurized. A dark ale with added ginger. At 4.7% ABV I would expect more flavour in a beer, this is a fairly watery affair- disappointing.

Hazy amber with large structural head. Chemical aroma reminiscent of cleaning solution. Malty with hints of orange and ginger, and hints of that same cleaning solution. Short palate, disappearing quickly. Tastes just a bit off.

Pours hazy apricot/amber, huge light tan head with small bubbles. Much ginger comes through in the aroma. Oily mouthfeel. Medium sweet. Astringent, metallic finish.

500mL bottle BBE: 30/09/16. Lightly chilled. Pours a deep copper body with medium haze and a medium, lasting, fairly tight, off-white head. Medium-low intensity nose that’s soapy, with ginger, coriander and light spice. A hint of caramel sweetness is detectable on the tongue, along with a light bitterness. Medium-bodied with an insipid, watery texture, high carbonation and a warming, gingery finish. More than a "hint of ginger", this is a ginger beer. In some ways that’s a relief, because there’s not very much underneath.

500ml bottle brought from Scotland for me by AZ - thanks, A! Lovely refractive ruby-amber, large foamy beige lasting head. Aroma is light cereal, orange peel and sweetened ice tea, a little spicy. Taste - wow, that’s weird - tons of sweetened tea with lemon, incredible mineral tang to it - not bad, but so strange. Light and watery mouthfeel, not much carbonation, bitter tea-tannin in the linger. May be a bit old, but not horrid; hop character totally faded though

On tap at the Auld Brig in Irvine. Dark and spicy. Very nice but I prefer it bottled.

Bottle at home. Pours dark golden, nose is ginger and toffee, taste is similar.

Bottle from Booth’s in Ripon. Pours amber with a frothy off white head. The taste is malty. Slightly fruity with just a hint of ginger. Not offensive, but not very exciting either. Thin bodied.

ianwelby (1385) - SCOTLAND - JUL 12, 2014
(Bottle) Amber beer with a thin foamy head and a spicy aroma. The ginger does come through in the flavour as well but it is, mercifully, rather subtle and more part of a linger backtaste. The main flavour is sharp, tangy fruit and malt. It’s crisp and distinct and while I wouldn’t necessarily rush back for more the ginger does give it an interesting twist.

Bottle from Sainsbury Hamilton cons 2014-07-10 Uddingston AR: ginger and lemon zest - refreshing AP: amber/woody clear, stouthy cream caramel steady head F: heavy ginger (too much), caramel, bitter grapefruit, ... bad combination of flavours make me say: no go!
