This pours a deep amber brown with a small but firm head of foam that shrinks fairly slowly to a fine broken layer and it has some lacing. About 2/3rds of the way through my glass and there's just some spotty foam left now but it's still a nice looking brew in my Sam Adams glass.
The smell is all hoppy and malty and woody...it's nice.
The taste has big malty notes up fron followed by a very tasty woody flavour. I'm impressed with how the oak makes it so different from the regular AB. It seems to counter yet also balance the hop character and it makes it a really smooth but still very tasty beer. Now I'm getting a bit of chocolate and some vanilla, and a touch of dark fruit. The finish is slightly bitter, slightly malty, and mostly woody and it's delicious. The mouthfeel is medium full, the carbonation is light. Great taster. The alcohol is only noticeable some time after the swallow. Very drinkable.
Bottom line: This is a very good oaked brew that I'd certainly buy again. The flavours all work together in almost flawless harmony and I can only recommend it highly! ads135 (5278) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - SEP 24, 2017

Originally rated on 2/22/09. Oaked bastard pours a foreboding brown-amber body, with thin off white cap. Flavors were many and complex, initial taste of citrus fruits then the vanilla and smokey oak hints battle the bitter hops, finally the nutty maltiness makes an appearance, with the bitterness clinging on for the finish. the worst thing about this was the price but you get what you pay for, overall it is a very impressive beer weihenweizen (4356) - Charleston, West Virginia, USA - MAR 9, 2017

Keg Half Pint at White Horse American Beer Festival 2009, Parsons Green, London in July 2009 - Mahogany Red in colour. Aggressively hopped; citrus piney oily hops. Solid malts; roasty malty, caramel, toffee. Fruity; citrus. Smoother than the original unoaked version, i.e. rather toned down. Sweetish throughout with a bitter hoppy finish. (2009-07)

Amber color with creamy white head. Aroma has grass, malt, oak, dark fruits. Taste is malty with long bitter and dry aftertaste. Flavors of resin, cocoa, oak, dark malt.
Having a Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard after Double Bastard, again enjoying it more than I thought. Has a more moderate alcohol than the powerful Double. The hops are less marlelade-y (which I loved) and more piney and grapefruit-pithy, a touch leafy. The oak wood intertwines beautifully, a real balancing act and overall more delicate than expected.

Smells of sweet malts and huge scent of the oak wood with a hint of raisen. A beautiful redish brown color with small off white head. Heaps of malt Flavor ceasing the palate then tons of bitter hops coming out. Finishing off nicely with a touch of booze and brown sugar, choppy bitter ending but very complex and enjoable. Bottle at Ran and Dale’s. Thanks Melody! 2013 bottle. Subtle oak and smoke, a little red fruit. Woodsy and bitter and a little dry. Dry mouthfeel and full-bodied - a little bit oxidized but good nonetheless.
