Like a cheap skunky latin american malta vigor drink with a punch of alcohol. I liked the complex fruity undetone but I did not like the turn it took as it warmed. Most of this beers cousins would improve a little with warmth but this one does not. Nor does it play nice in a beer tasting.

Rich red color with hop, pine and somewhat sweet aroma. Medium off white head with little lacing. Full rich flavor of caramel, malt and hops. Complex and strong with nice alcohol warming. Great strong American ale.

Bottle. Dark red pour with a moderate, foamy head. Malty aroma of nuts and toffee with some hop notes. Caramel flavors with nice spicy hops on the back end. This is a really well rounded big beer. Its the perfect starting point when youre checking out this brewery.

Pours a hazy mahogany with a thin off white head. The aroma is citric hops, grapefruit, and dried fruits, dates and raisins. Taste is big with slick piney hops, citrus fruit also some sweet caramel malt. Moutfeel is full and heavy but perfect for the style. Despite being apparently different styles, the entire time I drank this I was comparing it to Alpha King. Three Floyds and Stone I see as two premiere microbreweries in high demand. AB and AK are the two flagship brews so I subconciously was measuring the two against each other. While I really enjoyed this and would definitely buy it again, AK is better IMO.

Mmmmm, yeah. Floral and fruity in the nose, but not too much -- and a wonderful deep amber/ruby color. Pours with a nice head, and the sweet smell (and taste) of success. Big bitter/malt balance is awesome. Life is good!

Bomber. Poured with small tan head, nice dark color and plenty of chill haze like a homebrew.Nice hop to malt balance, not as "thick as it looks. Head gone in seconds but laced nicely. The hops end up dominating the palate when all is said + done. Worth the $4.50 at the CandleWick in Buckingham, Pa

The label said that I probably wouldnt like this beer, and it was right. Very hoppy and bitter, but it isnt as overbearing as some APAs.

Didnt this used to be called a spice/herb beer? Anyway, had on draft in Portland Stadium. Nice marketing, reverse psychology description from Stone. I bet it was a brewers inside joke originally. Pours brown. Complex herbal, earthy planty floral notes in the nose. And same in the flavor, lots of dirt clods, weeds, dry-brush, tumbleweed stems and roots, god, so many weird mixtures in the taste. Palate was over carbonated. Not my type of beverage, but I guess if you can take impossbly gross ingrediants and make the taste "passible" to a group of tasters, then tell them whats in it, and in astonishment they hail it as an amazing brew, I guess that means the rest of us dont have sophisticated taste acuity. I would rather have a something enjoyable in more ways than nappy taste combinations. Wouldnt recommend. BUT! Doubler bastard is quite another story... quite awesome.
