COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

I would love to taste this beer without the hops, just out of curiosity. They seem so, well, harsh and distracting, from what is probably a nice blend of dark goodies. I’ll say one thing, though, this beer has one hell of a silky mouthfeel, creamy even. I suppose the extra attitude of the hops is the point they’re making, a kind of rebellious war cry lest the warm dark heart of this brew lull you. Anyway, thanks, Michael, for the gift!

UPDATED: APR 3, 2003 Re-rate bottled. Known in the Middle-East as Bush Beer this is a soft little mild and unassuming beer...
No. Let's be serious. Reddish ruby in colour with fine, firm head. Aggresive citrusy aroma. Short blast of reasonably soft, clean firm maltiness. Very bitter finish, and (ha!) there is this celery salt flavour. OK, you win... This IS a good beer. Much better than I first thought (and thanks for the beer).
Old rating: Nut brown. Dry, big weird celery aroma, very bitter. A love/hate beer. Must probably taste it again to decide which it is for me, but that is easier said than done on this side of The Pond... 5/4/4/3/8

thought this was a local microbrew at my favorite pizza place, but hell, good beer wherever it’s brewed!

good beer except for tasting so hoppy and it also has a great name

Though I’m not a fan of heavily hopped beers like this, I’ll try to be objective and put myself in the shoes of someone who likes a heavily hopped, aggressive ale. The bottle was nice and the label was amusing. Otherwise, it is not my thing.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2007 Excellent beer. I AM worthy. Big bold hops, a some-kind-of-candy aroma. Rerate: seemed a lot more dry than it used to be and somehwat disappointing.

Tasted on tap in Columbus, OH and in bottle in Columbus. Resiny hop flavor - very heavy on the Chinook. Complexity between hops and malt profile. Definitely a step up from their IPA. Good stuff!

Deep amber/maroon colour with a well-formed off-white head. Almost barley wine-like in flavour, but not quite as intense in alcohol content. But in flavour it stacks up.

I thought that this brew would be much more hardcore after reading the back of the bottle.

Strong hoppy fruity aroma.Dark red chestnut appearance with thick head.Fruity strawberry peach flavors followed by extreme radiating hop bitterness.
