2012 vintage. Great aromas of caramel malt, sweet bread and alcohol. Flavors similar. Perfect bitter hop balance. This year seems smoother than others recently. So good!

APPEARANCE - solid mahogany with lacing.
TASTE - burnt caramel, toffee, marshmallow, nut, plum, roasted malt, hops, spice, oats.
PALATE - big and bold, boozy in back.
OVERALL - I would buy again

his one pours a clear red with a 1 finger head of foam which shrinks during the session to a fine layer with lots of lacing.
The smell is very malty with lots of caramel. Nice. There's also a fairly faint, compared to the malt, nose of hops.
The taste has notes of caramel malt up front followed by some fruit(black cherry), and citrus and piney hops and a pretty big dose of alcohol.
Lots of warming during and after the swallow.
The more sips I take, the less I notice the alcohol and now I'm able to really start focusing on the flavours and man, it's so tasty and so well balanced that I don't want the bottle's contents to leave. *Very* nice sipping Strong Ale and with its creamy smooth mouthfeel and nicely done light carbonation, this is certainly a great brew worthy of its reputation. Highly recommended.
3 liter Bottle at the Aaahhh...øl!!! Julebord 2016. Dark orange body with a small head. Aroma of raisin, ashes, orange. Taste is bitter, grassy, with tangerine, pulp, hay. Very on the grassy side, though an enjoyable beer.

65 cl bottle, served in a snifter. Poured hazy amber with a light tan three finger head. Aroma: candy, overripe banana, pineapple, caramel. Taste: toffee, butterscotch, cotton candy, overripe banana, pineapple, raisins, ginger, vanilla, spices, christmas cake, raisin bread, roasted nuts, cloves. Thick and quite spicy mouthfeel. Medium to full body with a very nice more bitter than sweet finish. Also a lingering gingery spiciness in the long finish. Alcohol nicely hidden. Tastes like a barley wine, especially 'Bommen en Granaten' by 'De Molen' is almost identical to this. But a really fantastic brew on its own! Really enjoying this... 650ml bottle. Pours a clear copper hue with a one finger with a beige head. On the nose, lots of barley wine like notes, resinous hops up front, heavy caramel malts, tropical fruit underneath, and a note that is almost like vanilla cake. Lighter bodied than expected, but sweet with some alcohol burn, resinous notes, sweet caramel malt, with mineral hopping that heads into bitterness over burnt sugar, a faint floral note, lots of eucalyptus, and the faintest hit of coffee. It definitely seems more barley wine than anything, but I have few complaints. BOOM to the taste buds!
