Q: “What do you call it when you take a sip of oak barrel aged Double Bastard Ale that’s had the other half of the bounty of chili peppers from Greg’s home garden ceremoniously added in, resulting in a punishingly intense level of hot pepper heat to an already overly intense beer whose elevated alcohol level caused a significant transference of pain-inducing capsicum?” A: “Punishment.”
Punishment is 2013 Double Bastard Ale brewed with freshly harvested peppers and aged in bourbon barrels. Brutally hot and unyielding in its imposition, this intensely hellish spawn of Caribbean red hots, fatalis and Moruga scorpion peppers is a just dessert for any spice-taunting masochist who dares to engage it.

Look if you can sit and kick back more then one you are a bad man or woman. Pour is dark amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is the best tons of peppers but scotch bonnet or Trinidad scorpion rain king. This beer is a pretty hot beer not for non pepper eaters. Starts out sweet and malty and finishes hot, hot, hot. This beer has my heart beating and I am sweeting.

18Jan2018 Some green vegetables, sweet grain malts, sweet oak, green peppers. Hazy, very dark brown, small, creamy, white head. Light bitter. Intense chilli heat, lovely green peepers, grain malts, sweet malts, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Nice if you like chillis. Bottle shared at Leighton's - thanks to The_Osprey!

Pours clear deep gold into a snifter. White head with no retention recedes to nothing. Hot habanero aromas. Slick with hot habanero front to back. Like drinking hot sauce. I like hot sauce, so goes well with dinner, but not a sipper.

Bottle. It poured a clear copper color with a tan head. The aroma was of intense hot peppers, malts and caramel. The taste was similar to the aroma with more hot peppers, malts, caramel and a nasty spicy aftertaste. It was medium bodied with a definite palate wrecking flavor. Never again.

Caramel brown in color... Aroma of caramel, vanilla and a ton of peppers... flavor is disgustingly hot peppers, caramel malts... just fire throughout... never again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Śmieszne, ale i bez sensu.

Punishment was right in the first sip, but the more I tried the more the flavours started to come through, no doubt due to the chillies, Wouldn’t rush back, but appreciate the effort.

bytemesis (9729) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - AUG 8, 2016
Bottle from 2013. Pours murky hazel, small beige head, dissipates with some lacing. Aroma is full of chili pepper, bourbon, vanilla, toffee. Flavor is quite sweet, super pepper heat, pepper flesh, toffee. Medium body, low carbonation. This is just a silly beer. I like hot food and this is kinda crazy. For most folks I would have to assume that this is undrinkable. One needs to ask why.

Fatehunter (2654) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JUN 17, 2016
Pours thin head on hazy dark brown body. Aroma peppers, wood, bourbon, and booze. Taste is hot pepper, caramel, woody, and dank lemon. Texture is thicker.

djd07 (16554) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 8, 2016
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma is strong peppers, bourbon, caramel. Thin mouth, toasted malt, bourbon, so much pepper and heat, this was not enjoyable.

PotjeBier (3941) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAR 11, 2016
Bottle, shared at a beer tasting @ Beer Temple - thanks Peter for providing these beers. Amber/red color. Not much head. Aroma’s: pepper, Maggi, caramel. Retronasal the heat already kicks in, pepper all the way. Flavor is sweet, but masked by the heat. Strong alcohol feel (or is it the pepper?). Full bodied. Very hot from the peppers. The heat last very long, but there is some bitterness detectable. They should have a version without pepper, cause it’s really over the top.
