Dark mahogony brown with a good sized light tan head that retains well.
Nose is light roasted malt, tarte berry fruits, soap.
Taste comprises soured blackurrants and berry fruits, light roast malt, touch of chocolate.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish.

Deep red - amber beer. Short lived pale tan head. Smooth but pretty dry palate. Roasty dark malt and sweet blackcurrant. Sounds great but it’s not! The sweetness is very artificial tasting and clashes horribly with the roast malt. Completing the disaster is a very dry finish and a horrible saccharine aftertaste. Smoke and coffee as well. Grim!
Hand pulled at the Craven Arms, Birmingham. Great pub - proper homely, friendly and warm. This beer wasn’t quite so good as the pub: drinkable, in offensive - yes, but rather thin, a bit too sweet and lacking in Stout qualities (i.e. no roast, no body). , wolverhampton. Brown beer with medium creamy head and good lacing. Aroma is blackcurrent cordial aroma. Taste is chocolate,mildly roasted malts and sweet blackcurrents. Medium bodied. A nice stout.

Shared bottle @Papsoe’s. Pours a dark amber with red hue. Low beige top. Subtle berry aroma. Some toasted malts in the back. Random berry fruity flavor. Hard to pin-point the black currants. Light roast, some dark caramel and a vague bitterness underneath. Less than medium full. Weak berry fruity finish. Bottle conditioned at Standing Room Only, Cheddar Gorge, Somerset. Dark tawny with tan head. Initially quite a heavy fruitiness to this with a harsh aspartame, sweetener type flavour. This eased off after a while, the fruitiness became a little more natural and the body developed a liquorice character. It remained sweet but more drinkable. Reasonable. Brown, doesnt look like a stout. Licorice nose. Sweet and scottish ale like flavor, bit of licorice, not much currant. Decent consistency.
