Hand pulled at the Waggon and Horses, Halesowen. This was labelled as Chideock Brewery Martyr’s Best, but am reliably (very reliably) informed that this is the same beer. Yellow/tawny brown, with a slim head. Lively Bitter, with some pond water in the aroma, but fizzy mineral water and sweet, gentle UK hop in the gob, with warmth and balance. Not masses of flavour, but some hop wash tang on the finish, which is fairly pleasant. For no logical reason, this reminds me of GBBF 2004, which is no bad thing. Cask (handpump) @ Hobgoblin, 2 Broad Street, Reading, Berkshire, England RG1 2BH.
Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dark roasted, malty, dusty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, roasted malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.
Cask @ Royal Oak. Brown and almost opaque. Thick stable beige head. Mild, subtle fruit aroma. Dried fruit and molasses and some huskiness/overly sparged grain aromas. Soft palate. The heavy husk is prominent in the flavors, which doesn’t bother me. Overall it’s nice and has a hint of anise in the finish adding depth.

@ Royal Oak. Amber-brown, nice lacing. Toasty, nutty brown ale aroma. Light body, getting a bit creamy and nutty as it goes. Good malt complexity. downender (8729) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2010
Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 29/04/10. Dark, reddish-amber in colour with a slight, off-white head. Savoury malt aroma. Flavour was similar, with a touch of fruit and long, bitter finish. Ok. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2010
A Mes rate. Gravicask at the Bree Louise.Ethereal (2421) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 6, 2010
Slightly hazy dark amber with no head what so ever. Caramel, leather and tobacco. Some straw and farmyard stuff. Reasonably well hopped giving a nice bitter finish. Decent stuff but a little uneventful.
UPDATED: JUL 31, 2011 Cask at the Bricklayers Arms, Putney, 7th Nov 2010. Light brown with no head. Ok mix of dry and sweet flavours, but all at the front of the mouth. Lacks a decent finish.

Cask at the Bricklayers Arms, Putney, 4th Feb 2010 with tashi. Reddish amber/light brown with a line of bubbles. Hint of malt on the nose but you strain to find it. Weak aroma. Watery palate. Fruity flavour with some hop notes but just not a good beer.
