COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Production in Japan was stopped in September 2015. If you have a dark Asahi beer after that, it is Dry Black.

Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv.

Originally rated on 12/18/08. It pours a black body with decent carbonation, and head. Roasted malts and hints of chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma, with slightly thin mouthfeel. Overall it was better than i thought it would be, not bad at all.

Aroma is roasted malts and mild grainy sweetness. The flavor is roasted/dark malts, mild grainy sweetness in the middle, mild fruit and a bit of acidity in the finish.

Bottle. Dark Reddish Brown in colour. Very Malty; roasty malts, caramel, liquorice. Asahi use roast barley malts, rice and maize. Sweet roast malty throughout. OK. Easy drinking (2010-05)

Bottle @ some Japanese restaurant in London. Deep brown with a tan head. Attractive pour. Nose is a bit subdued. General toasted cereal. Slightly nutty. Flavor is fairly neutral, mildly sweet. Caramel slathered toast. A bit of charred grain. Light body, strong carb.

334ml bottle. Pours a clear red-brown with a medium, short lived, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt and caramel. Sweet flavour of roasted malt and nuts with a dry, mildly bitter, metallic finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation.

Flaska från SB. Smak och doft av rostad malt, soja, torkad mörk frukt, kaffe med toner av lakrits. Rund och len, lagom sötma, fin beska.

Light roasted malt nose with some toasted caramel. Sweet but not overly so. Some weird notes as it warms: fishy and slightly natto like. Not bad overall though.
