Completely clear golden coloured body with a soapy, frothy white head. Aroma of super pale malt, a hint of bananas and canned corn. Ultra-light-bodied; Small flavours of malt and cardboard up front with a touch of lemon and canned corn and literally nothing else. Aftertaste shows water, some lemons, fake sugars and more water with a bit of cardboardie malt and canned corn thrown in near the end. Overall, a very subdued and super mild beer that almost has no flavour at all. Very watery and dry, and when there are some options at all, even those without the best flavours, they are perhaps better options than this, without any flavour at all. I sampled this 33 cL can purchased from my hotel’s Mini Mart (Mini Mini) at the Garden Villa Hotel in Tumon, Guam on 19-July-2017 for US$1,60 sampled a day later in my hotel room on 20-July-2017. 500 ml can as bought at 7-Eleven in Metropolis Plaza, Sheung Shui.
Piss pale golden yellow colour; Three-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Fair sticky lacing with quite fizzy carbonation; Pungent and sweet smell of lager malt, with soda, floral, sugar, light bread, light lemon and smelly grass; Light sweet taste of very thin malt, with soda, light floral, light sugar, very thin lemon, light bitter hops and very light grass; Light body. watery palate; Mouth feel is thin maltyness in a very watery background. More soda pop than a Happoshu, light floral and sugar, thin lemon to round. Easy but very empty!… Hoppiness is floral, light lemon and smelly grass in nose. Light floral, thin lemon and faint grass in taste; Bitterness is very light for a abrupt, very low astringent water floral non-finish; Slightly dry after taste. Soda-ish and easy to mouth.
Comments: This 50%-off sugar variant of Asahi Honnama is so inoffensive and easy to down you will feel nothing at all, just a soda really, devoid of malt and hops. It cost as much as the original Honnama, and taste and feel like a tasteless black hole. Avoid!
Extremely watrery. The closest thing Japan has to an American style lite beer. Stick with its red Honnama brother if really want to drink Asahi happoshu. czlowiekwiadro (1224) - POLAND - MAY 21, 2014

Foamy , light and sweet with an artificial taste consisting of cardboard , bubblegum and vegetables. It may be low in sugar but it is also low in beer taste. I can see why people would want to drink this but there are better low calorie beers out there. Namely Asahi style free. The can looks cool tho. maekchu (4098) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAY 24, 2013
Can from ... somewhere. Light extract, molasses nose. Pale straw, really frisky carbonation (kinda unnatural and scary. actually). Flavors is basically thin extract in carbonated water, not much hop presence at all. Thin-medium body, crisp. Really, this is lightly beer-flavored club soda. Not really offensive... and not not. Best Asahi brew...highly recommended but hard to find. Bought can in a Guam duty free shop.
