Absolutely delicious, from the sweet taste to the strong ale underpinnings. Easily the best beer widely offered by the majors. biirusaikou (2705) - - OCT 14, 2014
Soapy toffee. Rich caramel malt, mild green hops, some alcohol burn, bittersweet finish. A step in the right direction for Asahi, still a bit too sweet and basic. GenkiGonzo (1092) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 10, 2014
Straight from the can. Surprised to smell hops from Asahi! Some bread and malts. Best beer I’ve had from Asahi. TBone (17580) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 17, 2014

Clear golden color, good white head. Grainy, cardboardish aroma. Medium-bodied. Harsh, alcoholic and grainy flavor. Nasty boozey finish. Duh.
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener.
The appearance was a super clear golden yellow color with a light carbonation seen rising at a moderate pace. There was a light one finger white foamy head that didn’t have much lacing about it.
The smell had some light sweetened to roasty corn all over.
The taste was mainly sweet with a slight touch of hop balance.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light to medium and had a good sessionability to it.
Overall, I say this wasn’t a bad beer. Its worthy of having again.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2015 coffee, roasty, golden, clear, white foam, lightly bitter, medium body, sticky. Very pleasantly malty all-around. A bit too heavy IMO, brings to mind a higher-a.b.v. version of Suntory Malts (the regular, old-school version). For a 6.5% major, they did a bang-up job on this. Best beer I have tasted since moving to Japan over 1 year ago. Finally a beer that does not taste like all the generics. I find that in many cases ’real beer’ tastes just like their cheaper Happoshu counterparts.
Well done Asahi, hopefully it is not temporary douglas88 (9194) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 11, 2013
12 ounce can thanks to the wife. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A rich peppery and banana nose, some pils malt. The flavor is bready, pilsner malts, some light crisp hops, mellow banana and yeast. Very smooth and quite nice. This is a solid quaffable brew with some bite. Finishes with a light noble hop. Aroma: grainy, earthy malt, floral, earthy, and grapefruit peel from the hops.
Flavor: moderately sweet grainy malt, dried peas and melon, light earthy hops. Light bitterness on a very short finish.
Comment: soft, mellow palate. The sweetness is just short of cloying. Not bad for Asahi, maker of the bland, characterless Super Dry. faroeviking (10913) - FAROE ISLANDS - MAY 11, 2013
Lata. Clear golden, medium fairly well alsting white head. Aroma of malt with bit fruit (hop) and some sweetness. Good mouthfeel. Flavour has a decent maltiness with some frutish hops to it, some caramel sweetness. Mild to mediium bitterness. Pleasant.
