Cask (gravity) @ The 17th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2011, Reading, Berkshire England.
Clear dark black colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, coffee, light bourbon. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, light licorice and bourbon, oak notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.
Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival on 27 April 2011. Black in colour. No head and not much condition. More new oak than bourbon. Quite roasty with some dark chocolate in the flavour. Dry and a little thin. The underlying beer is, as usual, pretty decent but, for me, this didn’t quite measure up to the other (all excellent) Anastasia’s Imperial "specials" I’ve tried recently.
