monk191 (2008) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 1, 2015
A good black IPA. Pours a muddy brown. Smells of berries and coffee. Taste is very fruity, with a nicely balanced hop note and some mint in the finish. Had on tap at the brewery.

kathouse (1914) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - OCT 14, 2015
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2015 Nice roasted flavor from the malts with a good hop flavor that was light pine and citrus. However, the beer was not overpowered and the hop flavor blends well.

sonnycheeba (6126) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 8, 2015
Tap at brewery. Lost detailed tasting notes and was only able to recover numerical rating.

Drake (13954) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 5, 2015
Brewvival 2015 Trip #35. Keg at the Coxe location. Pours a clear brown with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of citrus, tropical hops and a roasty finish. The taste is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, herbal, piney hops. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

ramboraffe (2257) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 18, 2014
On tap at asheville brewing brewpub. Dark brown with small tanned head. Smell is balanced sweet roasted malt and hoppy bitter. Taste is warming roasted malt and hoppy grass and floral. Dry with medium bitterness and medium carbonation.

b3shine (8940) - Indiana, USA - JUN 2, 2014
Draft to pint at the Coxe Ave brewpub. The name on the board has it combined as one word (not two). Looks good; a translucent dark cola with foamy light beige head. Smells of hops and dark malt with a bit of roast as well. Tastes like it smells with a nice chocolate presence too. Pleasant on the palate. A good Black IPA.

Cybercat (5893) - Georgia, USA - MAY 23, 2014
Comes out of the tap a barely translucent (and only at the very edges) chocolate brown with a nice buff head that leaves generous lacing. Roast malt aroma has a strong hoppy overtone and a hint of caramel. Hoppy flavor has caramel, roast malt, woody and subtle chocolate notes. Texture is fairly fizzy if a bit thin. Get your villain on!

woodychevy (874) - - APR 2, 2014
Had on tap watching movie "her". Nice black IPA. Pours a transparent-ish black color with not much head. Nice lacing. Has some chocolate and espresso that plays nicely with IPA-like flavors- pine, citrus. Medium mouthfeel- lighter and more refreshing than red light. Really nice. Enough bitter in the finish to keep it interesting. 67 IBU’s.

jbruner (4841) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - FEB 10, 2014
Pours a translucent brownish black on tap with fluffy tan head that displayed to leave light lace. Aroma of dark and roasty malt with a light hop presence. Taste follows, not very bitter or impressive really. Meh.

Overall pretty decent black ipa on tap at the brewery in asheville, fresh, dark, good
