Draft. Pours dark brown. Aroma of coffee, caramel, roasty, and chocolate. Medium sweet flavor. Full body, creamy texture, mild bitter finish. Nice stout.
On tap at the brewery in August 2011 (from notes).
Opaque black in color with modest but long lasting tan head
Aroma: rather unremarkable medium and dark malts.
Taste: roasted grain, oatmeal. Rich and earthy. Dark roast dominates during consumption as well as in the finish.
M - low carbonation; medium-full body
O - pleasant if rather mediocre stout. slowrunner77 (13205) - Reno, Nevada, USA - APR 5, 2016
More complex than the oatmeal stout, but also a touch more abrasive and not quite as smooth. More bitter than sweet, with a good deal of roasted malt. woodychevy (874) - - APR 2, 2014
Had on tap while watching "her" at Coxe location. Great stout. All the flavours you would expect. Pours deep and opaque. Head could linger a bit longer. Great creamy mouthfeel- almost chewable. Has some bitterness for balance but drinks smoothly. Really enjoybale. Favorite brew by ABC. Makes me sad stout season is coming to an end.

Originally reviewed 1/14/10. This is apparently a new offering by this little brewpub. Came out a deep black with a thin mocha head on top. Left nice sip rings and little lace spots. Scents of roasted malts and nuts, and a slight coffee twang.
Full, creamy body on this beer. Almost chewable. Flavors of dark bitter chocolate, a mild creamy sweetness in the middle, and a slight charring finish. This is a very well-made stout. I liked it a lot. Recommend.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malty aroma with some sweet chocolate notes. The flavor has roasted and lightly burnt malts, coffee, light dark chocolate sweetness, and just a hint of smoke. Good stuff. ucusty (2693) - raleigh, North Carolina, USA - AUG 1, 2011
Brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasty with subtle nuttiness. Body is not overly thin. Bakers chocolate, roast, light maltiness, and bitter on the finish. beernovice39 (3269) - Idaho, USA - FEB 9, 2011
Draft. Pours black with a light brown head. Scent is caramel, and roasty. Malty taste with roasted notes. Easy drinker but nothing special.

On draught at the brewer’s theater location. Pours deep mahogany with walnut fringes and a settled tan head that leaves light soap lacing. Roasty nose with some dark esters and subtle chocolate. Roasted malt with hints of light fruit, coffee beans and roasty bitters. A little licorice in there toward the end alongside the bitter coffee finish. Creamy palate with a thin body and subtle carbonation. Decent stout. Dickinsonbeer (5073) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 15, 2010
On tap at the merrimon location. Pours a deep dark brown near black, frothy tan head. Aroma is very roasty, pine, licorice and anise is pretty big, decent amounts of dark chocolate, and light fruity esters- some coffee hints. Flavor is moderate roast, some coffee, chocolate mint, pine, anise, leather and earth- medium sweet middle with a bit harsh burnt malts in the end with lots of mineral prickliness in the end. Ok.
