COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The destroyer, the creator, the benefactor. Shiva is all these things. We set out to create an IPA that anyone can enjoy, and we think we succeeded. As the flagship beer in our lineup, weve yet to encounter a soul who believes contrary. A crisp, citrusy Indian Pale Ale with a light color, Shiva will destroy all your preconceptions of an IPA. A transcendentally simple malt bill accents a generous helping of Columbus hops, lending an intense floral aroma with hints of grapefruit and a pleasant bittering quality. Your palette will be lifted to higher planes of consciousness with a bittersweet finish.

Slightly cloudy dark yellow. Citrus lemon and floral aroma. Hop profile is not my favorite but is lemon citrus up front with a bit of green apple and the finish is a stinging pine that is a tad off. Need less bittering agents here and some more malt to cut it a bit or even a little bit more sweetness. As it is it is a tad sweet with a tinge of caramel malt mid palate but this needs to be amped up a bit.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2009 Hazy golden amber with a medium white head. Mild citrus aroma, pine, orange. Taste is decent, pine and orange again but needs more bold hops. Empty bitterness on the finish.

22 oz Bottle. Slightly hazy amber, with a hop aroma thats evident from across the table. Modest white head that quickly fades. Very sweet and heavy. The hop bite is a bit flat and comes on late. Not as crisp as a western US IPA. More akin to a British IPA or even a bitter.

Too much of a sweet malt aroma, and not enough hop. Has a nice look to it. Nice thin head around the edge. Nice light orange with a slight brown hue. A really funky malt aroma in fact. Shit, I am 0/2 tonight. This sucks. Blah. A very bad malt aroma with a slight bittering hop. Alright, this IPA is not great at all. The palate is not bad, and the bittering hop is just there to please, I guess. A very soapy like taste. I just dont think this IPA is great at all. The bittering hop is odd in that it is overly bitter when it doesnt have an aroma hop, or flavoring hop. Bad IPA.

A murky orange appearance with a small fading white head. The aroma contains citrus as expected with some oranges and lemons. The malty aspect of the aroma really takes over with sweet potatoes, caramel, and brown sugar. Also a hint of a pill bottle. The flavor is slightly bitter with some lemons and oranges showing. I also taste some caramel and brown sugar. A heavy herbal presence in this one. The palate is rather thin. Overall not bad but quite off the wall for an IPA. Its ok anyway.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a pale orange color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of strong citrus hops. Taste is bitter hops.... citrus and slightly earthy. Medium bodied.

Golden color with small white head with good lacing. The aroma was lacking in what I expect from an IPA. The flavor could have been more hoppy, but was pretty darn good. It has a medium body that is very refreshing. I recommend, but there are better IPAs.

On tap at Coxe Ave. location, 11/17/08. Pours hazy orange, with a fluffy white head. Bright hop aroma, like it might have been dry hopped or hop backed. There was enough malt in this one to show through all of the hops.

Light yellow pour. Floral perfume aroma. Intensely hopped fruity pebble flavor. Very bitter sweet finish. Not very well balanced.

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2009 22 oz bottle purchased at Riverside Beer Store in Chattanooga. Poured a clear yellow/gold with a thin, bubbly white head. The aroma was floral, with a bit of citrus also. Flavor was citrus with a decent malt balance and a bitter, resin finish. The palate was average, with a lingering bitter finish, a medium body, soft carbonation and a clean mouthfeel. This wasnt bad, but it wasnt great.
