Several bottles, 33cl, back in the 90s.
I was in asmara 3 weeks on a IT infrastructure job, and even back then I found pleasure in beer, and new exotic beer. The brew was somewhat similar to faxe fad, a little less bitter than HOF, and a little bit smoother. Also very slightly sweeter, but it is more or less just like any other macro lager. At the time i found it pretty good, as it was definetly drinkable. I ususally only rate from notes, but this is an exception - i’m not going back to asmara, eritrea anytime soon, although it is a nice town, located on a plateau on the mountain with very nice climate due to the high location. nilsas (4052) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAR 5, 2014
Dufter av sukker og honning. Lys honning farge. Lite skum, noe langs kant. Liten bitter smak sammen med honning. Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JAN 31, 2017
courtesy of Per - hazy golden-blond beer with no head retention; aroma of paperboard and honey; low carbonation, quite malty and with a short finish of almonds, honey and herbs - very decent Peter_L (1246) - SWEDEN - SEP 8, 2015
Flaska från SB. Doftar säd och hö. Smakar som en blandning av gräs och torkat hö. Inte så speciellt besk. Mjuk, nästan gräddig munkänsla. Nja.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2005 Bottled. Quite a misearble sight upon pouring: Pale yellow, a mere dozen or so of bubbles tries in vain to form a head, but of course fails to do so. Neutral aroma. Sweetish with clean rounded mouthfeel where the limited carbonation creates an almost velvetty sensation. Fruity with notes of melon. Low bitterness. This is not really every day industrial lager stuff, and it’s actually quite refreshing, and almost meadlike with it’s soothing fruitiness and complte lack of malt flavour. gunnar (9019) - Sandnes, NORWAY - MAR 5, 2014
Shared bottle at local tasting.Pours unclear golden with a small white head. Aroma is weak grainy malts, sugars. Taste is light sweet, some harsh bitter hops towards the long finish. Light oily mouthfeel. SamTheBarrel (801) - Vallentuna, SWEDEN - SEP 12, 2015
330ml brown bottle poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is hazy straw colored with a medium sized thick frothy beige head with good retention, that left lacing when reduced. Aroma of grains, hay and honey. Flavours of bread, cereal, lemon zest and dough. Taste is medium-light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, soft texture and average carbonation. Asmara Lager Beer is decent, unusual appearance and mouthfeel for a macro lager. madmitch76 (24360) - , Essex, ENGLAND - OCT 20, 2015
