COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled only. Available in 500ml bottles.
Note: The label may state the vintage year or number but it is unlikely that each vintage will get a separate listing for RateBeer purposes.

We called this cyder Imperial in honour of our great grandfather JB Chevallier’s success at the Imperial Fruit Show in 1921. Every year we craft a special vintage. This is our 285th.

Rich fudgy, tantalising flavour enhanced by bitter-sweet apples from a single year’s crop. Notes of raisins, dates and prunes. Sweet mellow finish.

Pours golden. Dry wth a tanin like shrink wrapping quality. Moderately sweet but still dry overall. Notes; on tap at Northmans, Chicago Oct '17

Looks like hangover piss with no head. Slightly unpleasant aroma of apples and a sort of stale urine smell as well as synthetic chemicals. Luckily it tastes OK: golden apple taste, appletiser, caster sugar, vanilla and a slightly fruity fudgey toffee apple taste. Aftertaste has a powdery mouth coating dryness, like drinking flour. I would recommend this, unfortunately the price is offputting for what it is. £2.35 or more for a cider derived from corn syrup. Tried as No. 287.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, wood and apple.

Appearance:
Clear yellow/golden beer with no/a slight white head.

Taste/Palate:
Medium sweet and slightly dry with malts, wood and apple.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Quite a authentic apple flavour if you ask me, shame the appearance of a Cider is always so rubbish.

Fles van Ciderwinkel, No 286, 2014 harvest BBE Jun 18, 50 cl fles.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2016 Dark amber with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is apples and a mixture of dry cider and alcohol. Taste is apples and dry finish. Similiar to a ginger ale with apples.

Bottle shared. Quite a thick mouthfeel, rich red apple puree character, some apfelwein quality, fairly warming finish with spicy notes. Nice stuff specially considering their other basic brews, a bit too heavy and sweet for me maybe.,

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Golden coloured cider. It’s strength is not overly evident, but seems to provide a decent edge to its apple, which is not overly stated but feels good in the palate. The fruit is fairly dry tasting.

Bottle, 500ml. *** Colour: Deep yellow golden, clear. Small head. *** Nose: Medium-sweet apples, mild oak, some vanilla. *** Mouthfeel: Medium body, not watery at all. Moderate carbonation. *** Taste: Ripe apples, medium sweet. Also a touch of peach and vanilla at the start. Mild oak mixes with the apples toward the middle. White wine mixes with apples and peach in the finish, long afteraste of pears, vanilla and some lemon. *** Impressions: Very well made vintage cider with an intriguing mix of fruit flavors and slight oak and vanilla undertones. Well-judged level of carbonation to keep things lively. The best Aspall cider I’ve tried so far.
